A member of the Afghan government called for the public execution of apostates from Islam after a video showing an Afghani being baptized was broadcast in May 2010. President Hamid Karzai then announced in June 2010 that the government would employ “new efforts” in order to prevent Christian missionary activities in Afghanistan. In August 2010, ten Believers were murdered in what is believed to be a Taliban attack.

Persecution against Christians in the Islamic, war-torn nation of Afghanistan has escalated in both intensity and frequency in 2010. The remnant of Believers (some estimate only 0.2% of the population follows Christ), already at great risk for their faith, are now facing severe and sometimes lethal opposition.

After a video showing a Believer being baptized was broadcast in Afghanistan in May 2010, student demonstrations broke out and at least one member of parliament called for the public execution of apostates from Islam.

Christian humanitarian agencies working inside the nation began to be targets of government investigations. “Both the Taliban and politicians,” one source reports, “have tried recently to pin the ‘proselytizer’ label on such foreigners.”

In June 2010, President Hamid Karzai announced that his administration planned to employ “new efforts” in an attempt to keep Afghanistan free from Christian missionary activities.

Just two months later, ten Believers were brutally murdered after providing medical care to a remote area of northeastern Afghanistan. Though initially considered a robbery, the Taliban has since taken credit for the attack, stating that the Christians were murdered because they were “spying and trying to convert Muslims.”

Afghanistan is number 6 on the Open Doors World Watch List 2010 of the world’s worst persecutors of Christians. WIN partners pray for Afghanistan on Day 2 of the Window International Network Praying Through the Window 9 prayer calendar.

PRAY FOR:

• the Lord to open the door for the Gospel to be preached throughout Afghanistan. (The Bible, Revelation 3:8)

• key leaders – including President Karzai – to hear and respond to the Good New that Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross and rose again in order to pay the price for their sin. (The Bible, Romans 5:8)

• joy and endurance for the Believers who are facing extreme persecution in Afghanistan. Ask the Lord to give them boldness and use them powerfully to bring salvation and transformation to this hostile nation. (The Bible, I Peter 4:13)

• the hearts of the Taliban and other extremist groups to be softened, their blind eyes opened to the reality of their sin and the free gift of life in Christ. (The Bible, Acts 26:18)

• wisdom and discernment for Christian organizations in serving the people of Afghanistan. (The Bible, Proverbs 1:7)

• the Lord to share His heart for the Afghani people with more Believers and send them to preach and demonstrate His Kingdom. (The Bible, Romans 10:13-15)

• God’s Kingdom to come to this nation with great power. (The Bible, I Corinthians 4:20)

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, August 30, 2010 – Window International Network announces 10/40 Window Sunday on October 3, 2010 which launches Praying Through The Window 9: Global Terrorism and World Religions. Praying Through the Window 9 (PTTW9) is an ongoing spiritual battle against global terrorism and world religions. Demonic forces are working in terrorist to advance the purpose of satan to inflict pain, suffering, hopelessness and death on a mass scale.

The 10/40 Window is currently the strongest bastion of demonic activity on the 10/40 Window. Only the power of strategic and united prayer will penetrate this region of darkness and make way for the transformational message of the Gospel. As we pray on 10/40 Window Sunday, along with millions around the globe, strongholds will be destroyed, bonds broken and captives set free.

“Prayer moves the hand of God. Once there is sustained, strategic and informed prayer in the 10/40 window, we will witness massive numbers of unreached people coming to Christ.” Beverly Pegues, President Window International Network (WIN)

WindowKids™ September 2010 Edition

ONLINE:
www.windowkids.com

Mali

Hymnie: Hello, friends! Can you guess what part of the 10/40 Window we will be visiting today? Not Asia. Not the Middle East. That’s right: West Africa! I’d like to introduce you to a wonderful Sister named Marie who lives in the nation of Mali. Although the people in this part of the world have many hardships, those who have Jesus Christ in their hearts, like Marie, are filled with joy.

Marie: Bonjour, WindowKids! Many people are surprised to learn that in Mali, we speak French! Mali was once governed by France and after gaining independence, our country has continued to practice many French traditions. And as you’ll soon see, God has helped Mali many ways!

In order for me to explain the miracles that have happened in my nation, I need to tell you a little bit about what happened in Mali about twenty years ago.

My family and many others in our town make their living as peanut farmers. This was once a thriving business in Mali. In fact, we produced more peanuts than almost any other country in the world. But things changed in 1992.

In that year, Mali had a very bad harvest. There was no rain and there were few peanuts. Because of this, families went hungry and had to find other ways of making money.

The people of our town prayed for rain, for the crops to grow, and for ideas to help us during the drought. We also prayed for the families who had lost loved ones because of the hunger.

We prayed day and night asking the Lord for a miracle. Then one day, God answered in an unexpected way.

Many people began to hear of our problem and started calling it the Sahel Drought. Organizations from around the world came to help feed our people. But God did more than just bring us food, He brought us a new way of living.

Jesus used these organizations to teach us how to take care of our families. You see, friends, some of these groups brought a crop that grows in our hot, dry climate: cotton. They taught the people of my town how to harvest cotton instead of peanuts. The Lord blessed our cotton crops and we were able to care for our families again.

Isn’t it wonderful how God answers prayers! Not only did he send His servants to help bring food, but the Lord helped us find a new way to care for our families. And He restored the land that was taken away by drought.

Did you know that Mali now produces the most cotton in all of Africa? Although my country is still struggling to produce enough food and water, God has richly blessed us in so many ways.

WindowKids, you can make such a difference through prayer and obedience. Ask God, today, to restore Mali and the other nations in this region that have been affected by the Sahel Drought. When the people of my town prayed, God answered. And He will answer when you pray too!

Pray BIG prayers, WindowKids, because we serve a BIG God. And He likes to answer your prayers in BIG ways!

INDIA, SOUTH ASIA
India’s national security adviser met with members of a western government in July 2010 to “discuss counterterrorism, defense cooperation and regional security.” Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was also involved in the talks. India is considered crucial to “the fight against extremists in Pakistan and Afghanistan.” Praise God for this cooperation against a common threat. Pray for the success of these talks and for the Lord to give officials ideas and strategies for more effectively combating terrorism. Pray for peace between India and its neighbors, as well as peace in the hearts of the people as they hear the Gospel and respond to the invitation to life in Jesus Christ. Pray for the great awakening taking place in this nation to continue and expand. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to India with even more power and glory.

MAURITANIA, NORTH AFRICA
In July 2010, the government of Mauritania passed a new law that will enable security forces to better defend against al-Qaeda and its affiliates in West Africa. “In general, terrorists strike countries where there is a lack of security or legislation,” a member of the Mauritanian parliament explained. This new law is intended to fill the “institutional and legislative gap.” Praise the Lord for the way nations in North and West Africa are responding to the threat of terrorism. Pray for their efforts to be effective in stopping the westward movement of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. Ask the Lord to defeat this and every other terrorist group operating in the region. Pray for their funding to dry up, their membership to dwindle, and for their plans to fail. Petition the Lord to make Himself known to the people of Mauritania as Jehovah-Jireh – the Lord who provides. Pray for them to realize His goodness, care, provision, and ability to guard their hearts and minds in peace as they surrender their lives to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY TWO

SUDAN, NORTH AFRICA
The oppressive, Islamic government of Sudan has failed to heed warnings from western governments about stepping up its fight against terrorism. It is, however, using the terrorist label to attack and imprison political opponents and dissidents. In July 2010, three journalists were convicted of undermining the constitution and were also charged with terrorism and espionage. Human rights groups claim this is an attack on freedom of expression. Also in July, the International Criminal Court charged President Omar al-Bashir with genocide over the ongoing violence in the Darfur region of the country. Pray for President al-Bashir to have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to bring a complete turnaround for this nation – leading the government and the people out from spiritual and political bondage, into the marvelous light and freedom of Christ. Invite the Holy Spirit to move powerfully throughout Sudan and for God’s Kingdom to come with signs and wonders.

AFGHANISTAN, SOUTH ASIA
A report issued in July 2010 said that “more than $3 billion in cash has left the Kabul airport since 2007. Most of the money… went to Dubai, a favorite holding spot for wealthy Afghans.” Although some of the money is believed to have come from illegal drugs (used by the Taliban to fund operations), the source of the rest is unknown. The High Office of Oversight and Anti-Corruption will be investigating. Pray for an immediate end to the graft, cheating, stealing and greed that are causing the people of Afghanistan to suffer. Ask the Lord to expose corruption in the government, stop the flow of drugs and money to and from the Taliban, and bring peace to this nation. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout the land and for multitudes to come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY THREE

KUWAIT, ARABIAN PENINSULA
One of the passengers on the flotilla that was attacked by Israel in June 2010 was Dr. Walid al-Tabatibai, a radical Islamic activist from Kuwait. Al-Tabatibai reportedly signed the Istanbul Declaration – a document attacking Israel, calling for jihad (holy war), and having as one of its goals the liberation of the “Islamic holy places.” Pray for those deceived by radical Islam to have the eyes of their heart enlightened by the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to stop their attempts to steal, kill, destroy, and otherwise comply with the devil’s schemes. Pray for key Muslims, such as Dr. al-Tabatibai to hear and respond to the Gospel. Cry out on behalf of the people of Kuwait who are being held captive by the enemy and his spiritual terrorism. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to Kuwait as it is in heaven.

BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIA
Since taking office in January 2009, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been instrumental in stepping up anti-terrorism efforts. She has also encouraged greater cooperation with India in fighting crime, militancy and terrorism. Praise the Lord for Prime Minister Hasina’s diligence and pray for her government to remain vigilant in the fight against terrorist groups. Plead with the Lord for the hearts of the people of Bangladesh – that men, women, and children will see His hand at work and give Him the glory for their protection and safety. Pray for them to be responsive to the Gospel and to receive the gift of life offered through Jesus Christ. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Bangladesh as it is in heaven.

DAY FOUR

JAPAN, EAST ASIA
Japanese security forces performed anti-terrorism exercises in July 2010 in preparation for the APEC summit scheduled to take place in Yokohama in November. More than a thousand government employees also participated in the drills. “The security of this APEC summit is the largest since the G8 Tokyo summit,” a crisis management official said. “We’d like to put all of our resources towards protecting the people of the country.” Praise the Lord for this careful planning and pray for it to be successful in countering any terrorist plots, as well as beneficial to long-term anti-terrorism training and security. Ask the Lord to bring a great awakening in Japan – a spiritual revival that will sweep through the land and spread to surrounding nations. Pray for the veil to be removed from the eyes and hearts of the people, allowing them to see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls in Japan.

GUINEA-BISSAU, WEST AFRICA
Military aid to Guinea-Bissau from western nations was cut off recently when the government refused demands that military officers involved in drug smuggling be removed. It is widely believed that “the military has not only been bought off by drug gangs, but that the newly appointed head of the army, general Antonio Indjai, is heavily involved in the drug business.” Guinea-Bissau is a transit point for South American cartels smuggling drugs into Europe. Because of this, “West Africa is becoming a new source of income for al-Qaeda.” Pray for the Lord to bring a swift and complete end to this illegal industry. Ask Him to deliver those who are in bondage to drugs and sever the supply of drugs, along with the funds they provide for cartels and terrorists. Pray for members of these groups to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. Plead for their salvation. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Guinea-Bissau in power, wiping out corruption and bringing righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

DAY FIVE

BHUTAN, SOUTH ASIA
The government of Bhutan recently hosted a regional conference that brought together the prime ministers of India and Pakistan. The focus of the talks was peace and counter-terrorism. “How to rein in Islamic militant groups” and keep new groups from forming and growing were among the topics. Praise the Lord for Bhutan’s role in facilitating safety in South Asia. Pray for these and other forms of cooperation to be successful in stopping terrorism. Ask the Lord to expose, root out, and defeat the groups operating in South Asia and provide security to the people of Bhutan. Petition the Lord for a great awakening among the Bhutanese. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout the nation, for the strongholds of false religions (especially Buddhism) to be torn down, and for members of every people group to be set free to know and receive the gift of forgiveness and eternal life in Jesus Christ.

SAUDI ARABIA, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Terrorists from al-Qaeda and other Islamic extremist organizations have been migrating north, into Saudi Arabia from Yemen. Driven south in recent years by Saudi Arabia’s counter-terrorism efforts, many (perhaps more than a hundred) are now moving back into Saudi Arabia in an effort to escape a surge by Yemeni security forces. Pray for the governments of both Saudi Arabia and Yemen to be vigilant in tracking down and eliminating terrorists. Ask the Lord to expose these demonically-motivated groups. Pray for them to have no place to hide. Plead with the Lord for their salvation, along with the salvation of those who are bound up in Islam throughout Saudi Arabia. Cry out for their spiritual freedom. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Saudi Arabia as it is in heaven.

DAY SIX

GUINEA, WEST AFRICA
Although the nation of Guinea has been “wracked by existing and emerging challenges, including food insecurity, drug trafficking, and criminal activities,” a new report says it has made “significant progress,” including regional implementation of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. Praise the Lord for working miraculously in a country that has been plagued with political, social, and spiritual strife. Pray for the people of Guinea to turn to the Lord and call upon Him for help as they face these crises. Ask the Lord to make the Gospel known and for His hand to be evident in meeting the pressing physical and spiritual needs. Pray for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

THAILAND, SOUTHEAST ASIA
The Home Minister of Thailand recently tried to assure citizens that the “infiltration of terrorists groups in luring local university students into joining their networks is not as serious as it appears.” He stated that the government is carefully monitoring militancy throughout the nation. “Whether it is Islamic militants or other forms of militancy,” he said, “every such case comes to my attention.” Pray for the government of Thailand to take the growing rise of terrorism very seriously and be diligent in seeking to prevent recruitment of young people. Ask the Holy Spirit to expose the activities of these groups and defeat every scheme of the enemy. Pray for the people of Thailand to be set free from fear and false religion, and for their hearts to turn to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to Thailand and for multitudes to be welcomed into the Body of Christ.

DAY SEVEN

NIGER, WEST AFRICA
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) issued a demand in July 2010 regarding one of its kidnap victims – a Frenchman abducted from northern Niger in April. Unless a prisoner exchange was arranged, an AQIM spokesman said, the man would be executed in 15 days. The group, which calls its members mujahedeen (“holy warriors”) executed the man as promised. They also executed a British hostage in June 2009. Pray for Niger and the surrounding nations to attack these forces and drive them from the region. Ask the Lord to remove every barrier behind which the AQIM tries to hide and bring an end to their demonic reign in West and North Africa. Pray for the safety of the people of Niger and wisdom for the government. Petition the Lord for Niger to be saturated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great awakening to take place, resulting in a tremendous harvest of souls.

KYRGYZSTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
Although violence pitting the Kyrgyz majority against the ethnic Uzbek minority has subsided, Uzbeks in the south of the nation are now being attacked by security forces. Under the excuse of investigating ethnic clashes, police are reportedly “rounding up Uzbeks and subjecting them to beatings and other abuses.” Observers fear this could “further inflame hostilities and possibly provoke new clashes.” Cry out to the Lord on behalf of this nation. Pray for Him to establish peace between warring groups, and bring forgiveness and reconciliation. Pray for the healing of Kyrgyzstan – politically, ethnically, and spiritually. Ask the Lord to deliver the Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, and every other people group from the dominion of darkness and lead them into the Kingdom of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Intercede for our Brothers and Sisters as they face violence and persecution. Ask the Lord to give them boldness and use them to proclaim the Gospel throughout Kyrgyzstan.

DAY EIGHT

IRAN, MIDDLE EAST
Most of the news coming out of Iran is ominous: reports of the construction of weapons of mass destruction, violence against all who dare oppose the party in power, persecution of Christians…. But God is moving in Iran, performing great and marvelous deeds. In June 2010, an Iranian evangelist reported that “a spiritual awakening of unprecedented magnitude is occurring in this nation. The churches are growing so fast, despite persecution, that they have difficulty coping with all the new converts.” Praise the Lord for this incredible report. Thank Him for hearing our prayers and answering in a way that is beyond all we could hope for or imagine. Ask Him for an even greater harvest – for every man, woman, and child to hear the Gospel and for multitudes to respond, putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come in power to Iran.

BURKINA FASO, WEST AFRICA
Westerners have been evacuated from the northern region of Burkina Faso after a warning was issued regarding a possible terrorist threat. In July, intelligence agencies had reason to believe al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) was about to conduct a kidnapping. Humanitarian workers were among those evacuated from the area. AQIM is known to be active in northern Burkina Faso and is currently holding expatriate hostages. Pray for these demonic actions and schemes to be defeated. Ask the Lord to give the government and military of Burkina Faso wisdom, along with the resources they need to fight terrorism. Plead for the hearts and minds of militants and extremists to be set free from the lies of Islam. Pray for their salvation. Pray for multitudes in Burkina Faso to come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY NINE

MALI, WEST AFRICA
In July 2010, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) executed a hostage in response to a raid that killed six insurgents. The hostage was kidnapped in Niger in April 2010 while working with a humanitarian aid organization. One European leader vowed that the execution “will not go unpunished.” Pray for governments in North Africa to use wisdom in dealing and negotiating with terrorists. Ask the Lord to give the leaders of Mali insight, discernment, and effective strategies for finding and defeating AQIM. Pray for members of these extremists groups to be exposed and for their attempts to recruit, generate funds, and carry out acts of violence to fail. Plead with the Lord for greater cooperation between nations. Cry out for the salvation of key militants, key officials in Mali, and for the Gospel to reach every people group in this country. Invite God’s Kingdom to come not just with words, but with power.

AZERBAIJAN, SOUTHWEST ASIA
The proposed construction of an Armenian orthodox church in the contested region of Nagorno Karabakh is being called an act of terrorism. To allow the church to be built, the chairman of the Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations stated, is to “support Armenian separatism, Armenian terrorism.” Pray for a swift and equitable settlement to this long-running dispute. Ask the Lord to maintain peace and not allow the government or the separatist groups to engage in violence or oppression. Pray for a work of healing and reconciliation between these groups that will draw hearts and minds to the ultimate reconciliation – the restoration of relationship between God and mankind brought about by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great awakening in Azerbaijan.

DAY TEN

BENIN, WEST AFRICA
In a desperate attempt to end crime in Benin, voodoo priests have been called in to curse those who are planning to carry out illegal activities. The nation is considered the birthplace of voodoo and continues to practice and export the satanic religion. Pray for these evil activities to not only fail, but to be used as an opportunity for the Lord to display His great and awesome power. Ask the Lord to protect the people from criminals and the demonic oppression of voodoo. Pray for the captives to be set free by the blood of Jesus Christ. Invite the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in Benin, awakening hearts and drawing the people out from darkness, into the marvelous light of Christ.

INDONESIA, SOUTHEAST ASIA
In June 2010, Indonesian anti-terrorism forces raided the hideout of a terrorist organization plotting attacks in Jakarta. “At least 60 suspected members of the terror network have been arrested in recent months. Another 13 have been killed.” Praise the Lord for the vigilance of the Indonesian government in combating terrorism. Ask the Lord to provide them with wisdom, insight, discernment, and the resources to continue to fight against and defeat terrorist organizations active in Indonesia. Pray for the people of this nation to see and recognize the hand of the Lord at work on their behalf – maintaining peace, preventing attacks, and protecting them from violence. Petition the Lord to make the Gospel known throughout this nation and for multitudes to respond, putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY ELEVEN

LAOS, SOUTHEAST ASIA
“Fighting terrorism requires a firm commitment by the international community to act collectively and decisively,” President Pratibha Patil of India stated in July 2010. She was speaking to a group of international diplomats, including an envoy from Laos. Pray for the members of the communist government of Laos to take steps to combat terrorism and to cooperate with other nations in Southeast Asia in eliminating this threat. Ask the Lord to give them wisdom and to reveal to them the salvation found only in His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for a great harvest of souls in Laos. Petition the Lord to protect and provide for Believers in this nation, giving them boldness and strength as they faithfully proclaim the Gospel. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Laos as it is in heaven.

WESTERN SAHARA, NORTH AFRICA
“In countries with less democratic tendencies,” one journalist recently said, “the threat of al-Qaeda is used in… extreme ways, as a smoke screen to suppress dissent or crack-down on internal separatist movements.” As an example, the writer cited Western Sahara. “The Moroccans repeatedly accuse those fighting to liberate Western Sahara as having links with Islamic terrorists.” Pray for an end to the pitiful excuses being used to keep the Sahrawi impoverished, sequestered in refugee camps, and separated from their homeland. Ask the Lord to speed their release from captivity – politically, geographically, and spiritually. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move right now through the camps in Algeria where the Sahrawi are forced to live, opening their eyes, minds, and hearts to the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great harvest of souls as they are led out from the bondage of Islam, into the freedom of life in the Kingdom of God.

DAY TWELVE

EGYPT, NORTH AFRICA
Although Egypt is overwhelmingly Muslim, the culture is beginning to change. Men and women still conform to the standards of Islam in appearance (the way they dress and eat) but some are questioning the meaning of their religion. “There is a lot of pressure on the street [in Egypt] to at least appear pious,” one journalist recently noted. “But that is not how everyone wants to live, not all the time.” Praise the Lord for what He is doing in this nation. Pray for this dissatisfaction with past traditions and rigid, works-based religion to be used to draw people into a relationship with the True and Living God through the death and resurrection of His only Son, Jesus Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to move among Egyptians – especially the younger generation – showing them the emptiness of Islam and the fullness of knowing the Creator of all things. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout this nation and for Believers to be bold in sharing their faith. Petition the Lord for multitudes to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

UZBEKISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
The former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan (approximately 77% Muslim) is continuing to crack down on religious freedom – specifically the rights of Christians. In the past two years, the government has stepped up efforts to eradicate Christianity by raiding church services, detaining and fining Believers, and sending pastors to prison. “Christians in Uzbekistan are among the most courageous in the world,” writes Dr. Patrick Sookhdeo of Barnabas Aid, “as they boldly continue with their ministry and witness despite growing pressure and persecution.” Pray for the Lord to be present with these precious Brothers and Sisters, giving them peace and empowering them to stand firm in their faith. Pray for the joy of the Lord to be their strength. Ask the Lord to transform the hearts of the authorities and bring many of them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed to every people group and for multitudes to be drawn into relationship with Christ. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Uzbekistan as it is in heaven.

DAY THIRTEEN

NEPAL, SOUTH ASIA
Although a peace agreement was reached in 2006 and Maoists came to power in 2008 elections, the political atmosphere in Nepal has been described as “an awkward and volatile standstill.” In June 2010, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was forced to resign “after failing to solve the political dilemma, including how to reintegrate the Maoists and their highly trained soldiers into Nepalese life and governance.” Pray for peace in this troubled nation. Ask the Lord to raise up leaders to guide Nepal forward and to restore order and unity. Pray for a great spiritual awakening that will free the people from Hinduism and allow them to enter into relationship with Jesus Christ. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Nepal with power, signs and wonders.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, ARABIAN PENINSULA
In July 2010, the United Arab Emirates hosted its first-ever international conference on nuclear terrorism. “The conference aims to underline the global responsibility of this small Arab country in the Persian Gulf region to advance its nuclear program.” Pray for the Lord to give the government of UAE wisdom and discernment in developing nuclear power, as well as defending its nation from nuclear terrorism. Intercede on behalf of the people of this nation who are held in bondage by Islam. Cry out for their freedom. Petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls as the Gospel is preached in UAE and throughout the Gulf region. Pray for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY FOURTEEN

ALBANIA, SOUTHEAST EUROPE
A survey of nations by Freedom House found that “corruption continues to be a widespread phenomenon in Albania.” It also noted that “government efforts to tackle corruption have stalled.” Pray for the Lord to visit this European nation, pouring out the Holy Spirit and drawing hearts to His Son. Cry out for the Gospel to reach every people group and for a great harvest of souls to result. Ask the Lord to strengthen and empower Believers and give them boldness in sharing their faith. Pray for their protection and provision. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Albania as it is in heaven.

MOROCCO, NORTH AFRICA
After a 2003 terrorist attack in Casablanca, the government of Morocco stepped up its anti-terrorism efforts. They have reportedly thwarted a number of attempted terrorist attacks since that time. “Morocco stands out as an exception among other Arab countries,” one journalist noted, “but this cannot be taken for granted. Terrorism is a cross-border phenomenon that can reach anywhere, anytime.” Pray for the Lord to protect this nation and its people from the demonically-inspired schemes of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and other extremist groups. Ask for the light of Christ to shine into the darkness of this Islamic nation. Plead for the salvation of the many unreached and lost in Morocco. Pray for missionaries to be allowed inside and for their efforts to be fruitful and lasting. Ask the Lord to establish His Kingdom in Morocco.

DAY FIFTEEN

IRAQ, MIDDLE EAST
According to a recent report by the Iraqi government, “three decades of wars, massacres and sectarian killings have left Iraq with as many as a million widows.” As one widow explained, “Our life has been turned into misery and desperation.” Cry out for this war-torn, wounded and hurting nation. Pray for the Lord to bring comfort and strength to the many widows and orphans. Ask Him to use this pain and suffering as a means of turning hearts toward the hope found only in Jesus Christ. Plead for peace in Iraq. Pray for extremists and terrorists to see the futility of their actions. Petition the Lord to bring godly sorrow that will lead to repentance and salvation. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Iraq and ask the Lord to draw multitudes into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

SRI LANKA, SOUTH ASIA
In July 2010, authorities in Canada determined that a ship heading for their country contained 200 Sri Lankan nationals, some of them suspected to be members of the Tamil Tigers terrorist organization (LTTE). Although the LTTE was officially defeated by government forces in Sri Lanka in 2009, many of them remain at large. Pray for the true and lasting peace of Jesus Christ to be received and experienced throughout Sri Lanka. Ask the Prince of Peace to bring an end to the strife and violence between ethnic and political groups that has plagued the nation. Pray for the defeat of terrorism on the island and for the government to rule with integrity, seeking to serve the people. Intercede on behalf of believers, asking the Lord to strengthen them and give them boldness in testifying for Him. Pray for many from every region and group to put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY SIXTEEN

ISRAEL, MIDDLE EAST
According to observers, Israel’s growing isolation from the international community has one principle source: fear. With Iran seeking to develop nuclear weapons and threatening to use them against Israel, and terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbullah using missile attacks against them instead of just suicide bombings, the nation does indeed have reason to be concerned. Pray for this time of uncertainty and anxiety to be used by the Lord to open the eyes and minds of the Jews in Israel. Plead with Him for a great awakening and for Israelis to see and accept Yeshua Ha Messiah. Pray for the protection of Israel, as well as the territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Invite the Lord to establish and maintain peace in the region. Pray for Believers to be bold in sharing the Gospel and for the Kingdom of God to come to Israel with great power, signs and wonders.

TAJIKISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
With the outbreak of violence between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan finds itself caught in the geographic middle (a thin arm of Tajikistan runs between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan). That narrow piece of Tajikistan is also suspected of harboring Islamic militants, some of whom have sought refuge there from Afghanistan (a neighbor to the south). Pray for this troubled, poverty-stricken, potentially violent nation. Ask the Lord to establish and maintain peace throughout this region, restraining terrorism and genocide, and providing peace and hope for the people of Tajikistan. Pray for the Good News of Jesus Christ to be preached and demonstrated by Believers and for those who are suffering from the effects of war and ethnic hatred to put their hope and trust in Him. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Tajikistan during this critical time, as it is in heaven.

DAY SEVENTEEN

CHINA, EAST ASIA
Chinese President Hu Jintao met with President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan in July 2010, and both leaders vowed to “jointly fight the ‘three forces’ of extremism, separatism, and terrorism.” Their partnership is expected to help both nations maintain peace, stability and security in the region. Pray for the government of China to dedicate itself to the goal of keeping its citizens safe. Ask the Lord to give leaders wisdom in fighting the “three forces.” Pray for the citizens of China – every people and language group – to be awakened from their spiritual slumber and begin to seek the Living God. Petition the Lord to spread the Gospel across this vast nation and ask for a great harvest of souls. Pray for Believers to be protected and encouraged, and for the joy of the Lord to be their strength. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to China, as it is in heaven.

DJIBOUTI, EAST AFRICA
The government of Djibouti plans to take part in a “conflict-intervention force” currently being proposed by the African Union. Djibouti will also be sending troops to Somalia in an effort to “stem the spread of terrorism.” Praise the Lord for Djibouti’s vigilance in securing the Horn of Africa region. Thank Him for giving the leaders of this nation wisdom and for motivating them to act – despite their small size and limited resources. Pray for these actions to inspire other nations to be similarly determined in the fight against terrorism. Plead with the Lord for the hearts of the Djiboutian people. Pray for their salvation, safety, and for the Lord to provide for their needs. Pray for the Lord to grant Djibouti success in rooting out, confronting, and seeking to destroy terrorism. Ask for a multitude of Djiboutians to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY EIGHTEEN

YEMEN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
In July 2010, radical Muslim cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, issued a statement criticizing and warning against western participation in Yemen’s fight against terrorism. The cleric was recently added to a list of “specially designated global terrorists.” Al-Awlaki is believed to be a member of al-Qaeda and is presumed to be hiding somewhere in Yemen. Pray for extremists and terrorists in Yemen to be exposed, captured, and prosecuted, and for al-Qaeda in the Saudi Arabian Peninsula to be rooted out and destroyed. Petition the Lord to set free all those in Yemen who are held captive by the false religion of Islam. Pray for their eyes to be opened and their hearts awakened to the Good News that Jesus Christ came, died on the cross for their sins, and rose from the dead so that they could be forgiven and enter into eternal life.

VIETNAM, SOUTHEAST ASIA
“We don’t consider beating a child to be violence against children,” the director of Vietnam’s child-protection unit stated in July 2010. Unless a minor can “display physical injuries on more than 11% of his or her body,” the law says, no criminal case can be filed. Vietnam doesn’t just need better child protection, one journalist noted, they need to implement protection. Pray for the children who are suffering in this communist nation. Ask the Lord to be their Champion and to rise to their defense. Pray for pressure from the international community to motivate the government of Vietnam to take these crimes seriously and enact laws to put an end to them. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout Vietnam, to every people group, and for multitudes to respond to God’s invitation to life, putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY NINETEEN

TAIWAN, EAST ASIA
According to a news source, “China considers Taiwan a renegade province and keeps more than 1,000 missiles pointed at the island. Taiwan stockpiles… weapons to defend itself.” Despite the animosity between the governments of these nations, the people are increasingly crossing the borders. It is estimated that one million Taiwanese live and run businesses in China, and more than 800,000 Chinese have vacationed in Taiwan so far this year. Pray for peace between Taiwan and China, and for the mingling of these cultures to provide opportunities for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout East Asia. Intercede for Believers as they face persecution and discrimination. Pray for the Lord to give them boldness in sharing the Good News. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Taiwan with great power, signs and wonders.

BAHRAIN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
The government of Bahrain recently prosecuted seven men for terrorism, sentencing them to life in prison for their involvement in a murder. Human rights groups claim this is a politically-motivated verdict and have also accused the government of using excessive force against the suspects and their families. The government contends the judgment and the actions leading up to it were warranted because the crime was “designed to provoke terror.” Pray for the Lord to give officials in Bahrain wisdom in dealing with threats to the nation’s security. Ask Him to root out corruption and attempts to control and manipulate. Pray for the countries of the Saudi Arabian Peninsula to be cautious and vigilant in their attempts to combat terrorism. Pray for the safety of the Bahraini people. Invite the Lord to pour His Holy Spirit out on Bahrain, freeing the people from the bondage of Islam and leading them into the freedom of life in Jesus Christ.

DAY TWENTY

BRUNEI, SOUTHEAST ASIA
Brunei is “less vulnerable when it comes to terrorist recruitment and activities compared to other countries,” an Islamic studies lecturer stated recently, “however it should remain vigilant.” Because the government of Brunei closely monitors communication inside the nation, both good and bad ideas are suppressed. “This has probably helped stop the radicalization of Brunei.” Pray for the government of Brunei to seek a way to allow for freedom of religion and expression, while at the same time guarding against terrorism. Ask the Lord to strengthen and encourage Believers as they face great challenges to their faith. Pray for Him to give them boldness and for the Gospel to reach every part of the nation. Plead for a great harvest of souls as the people hear the Truth of Jesus Christ and are set free from the lies of Islam. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Brunei, bringing righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

LEBANON, MIDDLE EAST
One of the Islamic advisers for terrorist group, Hezbollah, died in early July 2010. He reportedly had a large following, a wide influence, and a “long history of terrorism and extremism.” He was considered a “specially designated terrorist” by western governments and supported both the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the suicide bombings carried out against Israel by Hezbollah. Pray that the legacy of this demonically-inspired extremist will be quickly forgotten and not impact a new generation of young people. Petition the Lord to raise up leaders in Lebanon who fear Him and will stand up for peace and integrity. Pray for Believers in Lebanon to faithfully share the Gospel and demonstrate God’s love for the people around them. Ask Him to empower them to bless their enemies and pray for those who mistreat them. Pray for multitudes in Lebanon to be set free from Islam and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY TWENTY-ONE

QATAR, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Victims of Hezbollah rocket attacks during the Lebanese-Israeli War of 2006 have filed suit against Qatar’s Al-Jazeera television, claiming the network “intentionally provided real-time coverage of the locations of the missile strikes inside Israel.” The plaintiffs say this helped the terrorist group “more accurately aim their missiles at civilian population centers.” Pray for the government of Qatar to use wisdom in dealing with this issue and do everything in their power to hinder rather than support Hezbollah. Ask the Lord to expose and scatter members of this organization, cut off their funding and arms supply, and defeat their attempts to unleash violence and war in the Middle East. Pray for the people of Qatar to see the destructiveness of this and other extremist groups, turn away from the lies of Islam, and embrace the Truth of Jesus Christ. Petition the Lord to make the Gospel known in Qatar. Pray for Believers to boldly share their faith and for multitudes of Qataris to put their trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.

TURKMENISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
Western governments have been assisting Turkmenistan in its efforts to guard its borders with Iran and Afghanistan against terrorists. The nation has been plagued by money-laundering and terrorism financing in the past, but is slowly improving its security to counteract these activities. Pray for these efforts to be successful in stopping the flow of Taliban and al-Qaeda members in Turkmenistan, as well as funding for their organizations. Plead with the Lord to give the government wisdom and discernment in fighting terrorism. Intercede on behalf of the people of Turkmenistan, many of whom are Muslim. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout this region and for those held captive by Islam to be set free. Ask for a great harvest of souls in Turkmenistan that will spread throughout Central Asia.

DAY TWENTY-TWO

ETHIOPIA, EAST AFRICA
The government of Ethiopia joined the international community in condemning the July 2010 al-Shabaab terrorist attack on Kampala, Uganda. Ethiopians were reportedly among the victims of the bombing that killed more than 70 people. Officials in Ethiopia promised to “provide the necessary support to the government and people of Uganda in their activities to fight against terrorism.” Praise the Lord for this strong response to an evil act. Thank Him for stirring the leaders of Ethiopia to take action against this rising threat. Pray for the defeat of al-Shabaab – for their recruiting to be ineffective, for members to defect, for funding to dry up, and for their attempts to control and dominate East Africa through violence to fail. Ask the Lord to capture the hearts of key members of this terrorist group and set free those who have been forced to enlist in the organization (especially children). Pray for the people of Ethiopia to see the destructive nature of extremist Islam and refuse to be part of it. Invite the Holy Spirit to come to this nation, reviving Believers and drawing the lost and unreached into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

MYANMAR (BURMA), SOUTHEAST ASIA
As Myanmar approaches its first general election in 20 years, dictator General Than Shwe is taking steps to maintain control. All of the cabinet members in his military regime were forced to resign from the Army. While they have retained their positions, some are not pleased with this move. One Burmese news agency reports that “Shwe is facing a mutiny among his subordinates. There are growing signs of discontent.” Pray for the Lord to raise up leaders in Myanmar who will serve the people with integrity and honesty. Ask Him to provide men and women who fear His name and will seek the good of the nation, rather than their own good. Pray for this uncertain time to be an opportunity for hearts and minds to be turned toward eternity. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed in Myanmar and for those who hear it to respond, placing their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to this nation, as it is in heaven.

DAY TWENTY-THREE

CHAD, CENTRAL AFRICA
Sudanese dictator Omar al-Bashir visited Chad in July 2010, despite having a warrant out for his arrest. The International Criminal Court (ICC), which issued the warrant and has accused al-Bashir of war crimes (including rape and torture) and genocide, demanded that the government of Chad arrest him. As a member of the global court, Chad is obligated to take this action, the ICC said. However, Chadian President Idriss Deby met al-Bashir’s plane and welcomed him warmly. Pray for President Deby and the government of Chad to realize their responsibility in this issue and no longer support al-Bashir’s violent and immoral crimes. Ask the Lord to raise up leaders in both nations who will serve with integrity and in the fear of the Lord. Pray for corruption, collusion, and oppression to be rooted out of these governments. Petition the Lord to open the eyes of the people of Chad to this travesty of justice – and also open their eyes to the one true Judge and His offer of forgiveness and salvation. Pray for the Gospel to reach every people group and village in Chad, and result in a tremendous harvest of souls.

ALGERIA, NORTH AFRICA
An explosion thought to be caused by a home-made bomb planted by al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) killed four people in Algeria in July 2010. In late June, five people were wounded by another attack near the Algerian city of Tebessa, this time by extremist gunmen. Pray for the AQIM elements hiding, training, and operating in this region to be flushed out and defeated. Ask the Lord to give the government of Algeria wisdom, discernment, and determination in finding these terrorists and eliminating them. Pray for the Lord to move in the hearts of these deceived men, setting them free from the lies of extremist Islam and leading them into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Intercede for an even greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Algeria – for the awakening that is currently taking place to grow and spill over into the surrounding nations and people groups, and sweep across North Africa. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Algeria.

DAY TWENTY-FOUR

LIBYA, NORTH AFRICA
A human rights monitoring group issued a report in June 2010 stating that human rights abuses in Libya are rampant. Despite efforts by the government to improve the nation’s image on the global stage, the report says, “human rights in Libya are suffering from the same problem that has persisted for decades… the omnipresence and the total power that security forces have.” Pray for a spiritual revolution in Libya. Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to leaders (especially Muammar al-Qadhafi) and to every people group in this Muslim nation. Pray for them to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel, be set free from the bondage of Islam and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

MALAYSIA, SOUTHEAST ASIA
In July 2010, the attorney-general of Malaysia vowed to “curb terrorist financing activities and eradicate all forms of money laundering abuses.” Addressing the International Conference on Financial Crime and Terrorism Financing, the AG stated that legislation in Malaysia is on par with other nations and that he hopes to see the scope of these laws extended. Praise the Lord for the actions being taken by the government of Malaysia. Give thanks to Him for these laws and their effect on terrorism. Pray for them to be successful and for funding to extremist groups to be cut off. Pray for recruiting to fail and for terrorist organizations to find no place to train. Ask the Lord to pour out His Spirit on Malaysia, freeing the people from the terrorism of the enemy, the lies of Islam, and the deception that they do not need a Savior. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout this nation and for multitudes to come to faith in Jesus Christ.

DAY TWENTY-FIVE

OMAN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
The government of Oman may be called upon to help in a cooperative effort to deter Iran from using nuclear weapons, a new report says. The plan calls for Gulf nations, such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Oman to join forces and convince Iran not to launch weapons of mass destruction. However, the report states, the plan may fail because these nations “come up short due to inadequate defense cooperation, a lack of trust with each other, and lingering doubts” about the involvement of western forces. Pray for the Lord to give leaders in Oman wisdom in dealing with Iran and other security issues in the Middle East. Ask Him to restrain the forces that desire to steal, kill, and destroy. Pray for war to be averted and for peace – both political and spiritual – to come to the Arabian Peninsula. Petition the Lord to release the people of Oman from the bondage of Islam and introduce them to the freedom found only in His Son, Jesus Christ. Cry out for God’s Kingdom to come to Oman.

KAZAKHSTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
An envoy from Kazakhstan was among those who gathered recently to hear India’s President Pratibha Patil discuss the threat of terrorism. “Fighting terrorism requires a firm commitment by the international community,” Patil said, “to act collectively and decisively.” Pray for this call to be heeded by the Kazakh government. Ask the Lord to rid the nation of corruption and raise up leaders who desire to serve the people and are dedicated to keeping them safe. Pray for the threat of terrorism to be used by the Lord to turn many hearts toward the only sure source of safety and stability: the Lord Jesus Christ. Cry out for the Kazakh people. Pray for them to make Christ their foundation. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation.

DAY TWENTY-SIX

TUNISIA, NORTH AFRICA
The wearing of the Islamic burqa (full veil), recently banned in France, has been banned for decades in Tunisia (considered a “moderate” Muslim nation). The stated reason for this is the protection of women’s rights. It has also been pointed out that the burqa is not mentioned in the Qur’an, but is a tradition instituted by Saudi Arabia. Pray for the government of Tunisia to continue to stand up for women’s rights and also continue to stand against the rise of extremist Islam. Plead with the Lord for the freedom of all Muslims, but especially those in Tunisia. Ask Him to awaken them and open their blind eyes to see both the lies of Islam and the Truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Tunisia.

CAMBODIA, SOUTHEAST ASIA
In July 2010, a western nation said it was “pleased with Cambodian cooperation” in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Both Cambodia and the other nation agreed to work together in the future to maintain security and stop militant groups operating in Southeast Asia. Thank the Lord for the growing commitment to the fight on terrorism. Pray for these efforts to be effective and bring an end to the global jihad. Pray for the safety of Cambodia and its people. Petition the Lord to help the government make good on its promise to combat extremists and cooperate with other nations. Pray for the terrorist groups operating in the region to be defeated, their members arrested and swiftly prosecuted. Ask the Lord to reveal to the people of Cambodia their true source of eternal security: the Lord Jesus Christ. Invite the Holy Spirit to move in Cambodia, making the Gospel known and drawing multitudes into relationship with Christ.

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN

TURKEY, SE EUROPE & SW ASIA
In July 2010, a Kurdish teenager was convicted of terrorism after attending a demonstration held by the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK). The young lady was sentenced to nearly eight years in prison. Those defending the girl say she was merely passing through the crowd on her way home. Human rights groups claim the Turkish government is abusing anti-terror laws. Pray for the young people who have been deceived by militant recruitment efforts and have joined groups like the PKK, as well as those who have been falsely accused and imprisoned. Ask the Lord to speak to their hearts and reveal to them the truth and life of Jesus Christ. Pray for the government of Turkey to act with fairness, equity and justice in dealing with ethnic groups and extremists. Cry out for the people of Turkey – Turks (an unreached mega-group), Kurds, and others – who need to hear the Gospel. Pray for their salvation. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to Turkey in great power.

NORTH KOREA, EAST ASIA
Although North Korea was removed from the list of countries that actively sponsor terrorism in 2008, the United Nations enacted new sanctions July 2010 in an effort to keep them from selling arms to Syria and other nations. The sanctions are also aimed at discouraging further development of nuclear weapons and stopping the many serious human rights violations taking place in North Korea. Pray for these penalties to be effective in motivating the government of this nation to seek peace rather than war. Pray for an immediate end to their abuse and mistreatment of those they consider threats to security (including Believers). Ask the Lord to provide for and protect the people of North Korea – that the sanctions will convince the government to repent of their evil actions, but not cause the population to suffer. Pray for Believers to be bold in sharing the Gospel, despite fierce persecution. Plead with the Lord for a great harvest of souls in North Korea. Pray for His Kingdom to come, His will to be done in this spiritually oppressed nation.

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT

SOMALIA, EAST AFRICA
“What happened in Kampala is just the beginning!” This was the warning issued by the leader of al-Shabaab, a terrorist group affiliated with al-Qaeda, located in Somalia. He was referring to the bombing in Uganda in July 2010 that killed more than 70 people. Al-Shabaab means “the youth” and is quickly and efficiently stealing away Somali young people and teaching them to hate, kill, and destroy. Pray for an immediate end to this demonic organization. Ask the Lord to empower African Union and United Nations forces to defeat al-Shabaab and the many other extremist groups operating in the lawless nation of Somalia. Pray for terrorist funding to be cut off, recruiting efforts to fail, and for these evil men to have no place to hide or operate. Petition the Lord for their capture and prosecution. Pray for the safety of the Somali people and for the government to restore order. Cry out for God’s Kingdom to come to Somalia and for multitudes now bound up in Islam to be set free and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

PAKISTAN, SOUTH ASIA
With the number of Taliban and other terrorist groups rising in Pakistan (especially in Punjab) the governor of Punjab recently claimed the people of his state despise terrorism. He described the residents as “affectionate, unrivaled in their threshold of tolerance,” and said they “hate terrorism from the bottom of their hearts.” Pray for this to be true and for the people of Punjab and other Pakistani states to rally together against terrorism. Ask the Lord to make this nation a place that is avoided by terrorists rather than sought out by them. Pray for their financing to shrivel up, their membership to dwindle, and their training areas to be razed. Petition the Lord for their capture and prosecution. Pray for a great awakening in Pakistan that will open blind eyes and sleeping hearts to the reality of Jesus Christ as the only way, truth, and life. Plead with the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation.

DAY TWENTY-NINE

NIGERIA, WEST AFRICA
Adding to the tragedy of homelessness and orphanhood, many street children in Nigeria are being accused of witchcraft. They are usually albinos, the disabled, or the infirmed, often boys between the ages of eight and 14. As punishment for their perceived crime they are beaten, burned, and have gasoline poured into their eyes and ears in an effort to exorcise them. They are sometimes even killed. Pray for this barbaric practice to end immediately. Ask the Lord to send human rights groups and humanitarian aid organizations to help these children and to alert the government to their situation. Intercede on behalf of these precious ones whom the Lord considers dear to His heart. Pray for Christian families and orphanages where these kids can find refuge and learn about the salvation offered in Jesus Christ. Pray for the Lord to be a Father to them, protecting them and providing for them. Pray for Believers to rise up and rescue these children. Cry out for God’s Kingdom to come to Nigeria and for multitudes – young and old – to put their faith in Christ.

MALDIVES, SOUTH ASIA
Officials from Maldives took part in the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meeting held in Islamabad in June 2010. Along with seven other nations (including Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal), the representatives from Maldives agreed to work together to combat terrorism. SAARC countries account for approximately 20% of the world’s population and their partnership is considered vital to the fight against terrorism. Praise the Lord for this sorely needed effort to join forces against evil. Pray for the Lord to strengthen this commitment and empower the government of Maldives to remain faithful to it. Ask the Lord to impress upon SAARC leaders the priority of keeping their people and the region secure from extremists. Pray for the people of Maldives to see the Lord’s hand in this – leading them, guiding them, and keeping them safe. Pray for a great awakening in this closed, Muslim nation.

JORDAN, MIDDLE EAST
A bank in Jordan has been charged with “providing financial services to terrorists.” This is the first lawsuit that seeks to prosecute an international bank for its role in supporting terrorism. “This will be a precedent that will help victims of terrorism bring cases against banks and others who help finance terrorism.” Praise the Lord for rooting out those who are participating in the global jihad. Pray for the guilty parties to be discovered and for the money trail to be broken. Ask the Lord to shut down organizations like al-Qaeda, end their funding, stop their recruitment, and confuse and defeat their efforts to plan and execute violence. Pray for the people of Jordan – leaders, terrorists, and common citizens – to turn from their sin, repenting before the merciful throne of God. Ask the Lord to bring an abundant harvest of souls in this nation.

SENEGAL, WEST AFRICA
The military forces of Senegal took part in a joint exercise in April 2010 involving the armies of Mauritania, Mali, Burkna Faso, Niger, Nigeria, and Chad. The aim was to bolster defenses and border security in West and North Africa. “Terrorists live in the seams between countries,” one observer noted. Praise the Lord for the development of these exercises and for the cooperation between nations. Pray for this training to be effective in stopping terrorism in this region. Pray for the Lord to protect Senegal and its people from the violence and oppression of extremist Islam. Plead with the Lord for the freedom of the Senegalese people. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed in this nation and for members of every people group, tribe, and tongue to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY THIRTY

ERITREA, EAST AFRICA
According to international observers, Eritrea should be added to the “terror blacklist” because of its support for al-Shabaab, a terrorist group linked with al-Qaeda. “The time to tackle state support of Shebab (credited with the bombing in Kampala, Uganda in July 2010) is now, before this menace becomes even more potent.” Pray for the government of Eritrea to immediately stop supporting al-Shabaab or any other terrorist group in the Horn of Africa region. Ask the Lord to speak to the heart of President Afworki. Pray for this leader to encounter Jesus Christ and become a new creation. Pray for the thousands of Believers who are treated like animals by the Afworki administration, transported in trucks “like cattle” and often held in overcrowded cells or shipping containers – simply because they love and serve Christ. Pray for this troubled nation to experience a complete transformation as the Kingdom of God comes in great and awesome power. Ask the Lord for a tremendous harvest of souls.

TIBET, SOUTH ASIA
The world is experiencing a “global political recession,” says one observer. It has gone from a “position of going from one breakthrough to another” into a “sustained period in which we are looking at regressions and setbacks.” As evidence, he points to Tibet and its ongoing struggle for freedom. While still crying out to escape the oppression of China, the people remain captive. Pray for the Lord to provide a solution to this very difficult and complicated situation. Ask Him to impress upon the leaders of Tibet and China the need for people to live with dignity and independence. Pray for the Lord’s plan and purpose for Tibet to be fulfilled – especially for the citizens to escape from the bondage of Buddhism and run to the freeing light of Jesus Christ. Pray for a nation-wide spiritual awakening and for multitudes to put their faith in Christ. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Tibet.

SYRIA, MIDDLE EAST
In July 2010, the government of Syria announced that Islamic burqas (also known as “niqabs” – full face coverings) would not be allowed in schools and universities. While use of the hijab (scarf to cover the head) has increased, observers believe the burqa has been banned to keep Syria from being considered an Islamic nation. “While it is a Muslim country,” one journalist points out, “it is not an Islamic country – one where Islam is not only the religion, but the government and law as well. Examples of Islamic countries include Iran and Saudi Arabia.” Praise the Lord for this move by the Syrian government. Pray for greater freedom for the women of this nation and for greater freedom of religion. Ask the Lord to make the Good News of Jesus Christ known throughout Syria and plead for multitudes of Muslims to put their faith in Him as Savior and Lord.

MONGOLIA, NORTH ASIA
Mongolia will be entering into an agreement with Nepal, Thailand, and Malaysia that seeks to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. By working together, these nations hope to secure the North Asia region and make it undesirable to al-Qaeda and other extremist groups. Praise the Lord for this initiative. Pray for its success. Ask the Lord to continue to help governments be ruthless in rooting out and combating terrorism. Pray for Mongolia to secure its borders and work to ensure the safety of its people. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this ripe-for-harvest field. Pray for His Kingdom to come, His will to be done in Mongolia. Petition the Lord to send workers and make the Gospel known to every people and tongue in this nation.

DAY THIRTY-ONE

EAST TIMOR, SOUTHEAST ASIA
Australia has proposed creating a refugee center in East Timor. While many in the tiny nation have objected, President Jose Ramos Horta has given the idea his support. “I wouldn’t want Timor-Leste to become an island prison for displaced persons,” he said, but “I would never turn my back on people who flee violence.” Pray for the government to use wisdom in developing this idea. Ask the Lord to establish a safe haven for refugees and asylum seekers who are searching for a safer, better life. Petition the Lord to bless President Horta and the people of East Timor, strengthening their economy and combating poverty. Pray for the Gospel to continue to be proclaimed, for Believers to be revived by the Holy Spirit and for the lost to be drawn into relationship with Jesus Christ.

THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICA
President Yahya Jammeh has reportedly launched a massive campaign to rid his nation of witches. “Why did Yahya Jammeh not deal with such an evil earlier than he did?” one journalist asks. “Not until these witches dared to eat a relative of Yahya Jammeh did [he] get enraged and imported witch hunters from Guinea to eradicate the evil scourge.” Pray for President Jammeh to hear the Gospel and put his faith in Jesus Christ rather than witch hunters. Cry out for the people of the Gambia – those who practice witchcraft and those who follow other false religions – to be set free from these wicked and demonic practices by the blood of Jesus Christ. Pray for a great awakening in this West African nation that will flow throughout the region, drawing a multitude of souls into the Kingdom of God.

GAZA STRIP, MIDDLE EAST
According to an Associated Press report, “Rival day camps by the United Nations and Gaza’s Islamic militant Hamas rulers compete for the hearts of the next generation, the roughly 700,000 children under 15 who make up nearly half of the Gaza Strip population.” The Hamas camps teach children “anti-Israel doctrine and military-style marching,” while the UN camps use games and fun to “try to instill hope in a better future.” Pray for the hateful propaganda and deceptions of Hamas camps to be exposed and for parents in the Gaza to refuse to send their children to them. Ask the Lord to open new and inventive ways of reaching these kids with the Gospel message. Pray for their hearts to be softened, their eyes opened to the Truth that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and rose from the dead. Plead with the Lord for multitudes of souls – Hamas members, parents, and children – to be drawn into relationship with Christ.

WEST BANK, MIDDLE EAST
Members of terrorist group Hamas were arrested in July 2010 for the murder of a police officer in what was described as an ambush on his vehicle. Authorities said Hamas is “continuing to try to reestablish its terror infrastructure in the West Bank… Hamas attempts to send its terrorist claws to every corner.” Pray for peace in this troubled area. Ask the Lord to establish good relationships between Palestinians and Jews. Pray for an end to Hamas and their evil attempts to destroy, murder, and manipulate through the use of fear tactics. Lift up Believers in the West Bank. Ask the Lord to protect them and provide for them, giving them boldness in sharing their faith. Pray for many in the West Bank to put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

WINDOW INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
Intercede on behalf of the staff of Window International Network, asking the Lord to fill them with His Spirit, empower them to accomplish His purposes, and share with them His vision and heart for the people and nations of the 10/40 Window. Pray for them to be surrendered to the Lord’s agenda and sensitive to His voice. Ask Him to anoint them and use them to mobilize evangelism to and prayer for the lost and unreached living inside the Window. Pray for the Lord to provide them with new ideas and strategies for proclaiming the Good News throughout the “resistance belt.” Pray for them to be faithful servants, persevering in the work they have been ordained and commissioned for, until the veil is removed from the eyes of the spiritually blind so they may see the gospel of the glory of Christ.

LIVING FOR ETERNITY

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” (The Bible, Job 1:21)

Job learned a tough lesson about how fragile life really is. All that he had and held dear was taken from him in the blink of an eye.

David echoed this, poetically likening our days on earth to a flower in the field. “For the wind passes over it,” David wrote, “and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more” (The Bible, Psalm 103:15,16).

In the New Testament, James expressed the same truth this way: “You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (The Bible, James 4:14).

The message is simple: Life is short, death is real. For those who have discovered life’s purpose – to know and worship God – there remains the issue of responsibility. How are we expected to use and invest our time, energy, abilities, and resources?

K.P. Yohannan once asked a telling question: Where will all of your possessions be in 100 years? Once you have passed from the scene, what will be left behind? What mark is your life making? Will anything you are doing today endure beyond your lifetime?

When your days on earth are finished, your bank account will be dispersed to someone else. Your clothing – no matter how stylish– will ultimately be thrown out. Your car will eventually be hauled to the junkyard or taken apart to sell for scrap. Your well-kept, tastefully decorated home will one day fall into disrepair and probably be razed.

That’s life! Unless you live for eternity

Living for eternity means doing, going, serving, and giving to the work of the Kingdom. Only God’s Kingdom will endure. If you have accepted the free gift of forgiveness and life in Christ Jesus, you will live forever in heaven. And if you invest yourself in God’s Kingdom now, seeking and saving the lost, others will join you.

As Job put it, you come into the world with nothing, and you’ll leave the same way. The only exception to this rule is souls.

Will you be taking anything – or more accurately, anyone – with you when you leave this life?

By partnering with Window International Network, you are making an investment that will not only last beyond your lifetime, but reap rewards in the next. As you join WIN in mobilizing prayer and evangelism in the 10/40 Window, you are choosing to live for something more than temporal concerns. You are living for eternity.

Become a WIN partner today.

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (The Bible, Colossians 3:1-3)

ELECTIONS

Who will lead the country? Who will write the laws? Who will make the decisions? Will the voting be fair? Will there be violence? Will the outcome reflect the will of the people?

Elections can change the course of nations. As you consider those scheduled to be held this month…

• pray for fair elections free from rigging and manipulation.

• ask the Lord Himself to raise up men and women who will serve with integrity, righteousness, and justice.

• pray for an end to corruption and graft.

• invite the Lord to appoint those of His choosing and fulfill His purposes in the nations of the 10/40 Window.

“…[The LORD] changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. “ (The Bible, Daniel 2:21)

MOROCCO: THE PURGE OF 2010

The staunchly Islamic nation of Morocco does not allow expatriate Christians to share their faith. In this environment, missionaries must take great care in their work, knowing that at any time they could be discovered and expelled. However, the intensity of the purging that has taken place in 2010 caught nearly everyone by surprise. The action came suddenly and has yet to subside.

In March, nearly 100 expatriate Believers, many of them teachers, were suddenly and without warning told to leave the country. Watchdog groups decried this as a blatant disregard for religious freedom. But the government of Morocco claimed those who were deported had been engaging in secret attempts to proselytize and “spreading Christianity among the poor.”

A second wave of expulsions began in May, forcing more than 20 other Christians to leave Morocco.

As the government continues this campaign to remove expatriate Christians from the country, they are also targeting Muslim Background and indigenous Believers.
Among them are a Moroccan man and his wife who were arrested and charged with “preaching and proselytizing.”

According to International Christian Concern, another Moroccan Believer is being held in the nation’s largest prison on “trumped up charges.” His case has been kept hidden from the press, causing many to wonder how many other Brothers and Sisters are imprisoned.

The church in Morocco is reportedly experiencing “increased pressure from the government.” For them, the cost of following Christ is considerable. Yet they remain faithful to Him.

Attempts by Christians to re-enter the country have thus far proven unsuccessful. Public opinion among the Muslim-majority population seems to be against allowing them back into Morocco. “It is out of the question to misuse a school to convert children,” one politician said. “Foreigners must respect our laws.”

The government claims the Believers were deported in order to “foster ‘order and calm’ and avoid a clash between faiths.” They have also stated that those who were ordered to leave were undermining public order.”

PRAY FOR:

• the enemy to fail in his attempts to stop the spread of the Gospel. Pray for this resistance to backfire and cause many Moroccan Muslims to consider Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Matthew 16:18)

• the veil the enemy has bound over the eyes and minds of Moroccans to be removed and for the glory of Christ to shine brightly in this nation. (The Bible, II Corinthians 4:4)

• the Lord to bring many leaders in the Moroccan government to faith in His only Son. (The Bible, I Timothy 2:1-4)

• a great multitude of souls to come to salvation in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, II Peter 3:9)

• the protection of Moroccan Believers as they seek to share their faith in a very hostile and dangerous environment. (The Bible, Psalm 91, II Corinthians 5:14)

• those who have been expelled to be comforted and not be discouraged by these events. Ask the Lord to give them new and inventive strategies for rescuing those in Morocco who are perishing. (The Bible, James 1:2-5)

• the church in Morocco to stand firm and grow strong in the Lord. Pray for the joy of the Lord to be their strength. (The Bible, Ephesians 6:10,11; Nehemiah 8:10)

• God’s Kingdom to spread throughout Morocco, as it is in heaven. (The Bible, Matthew 6:10)

The State of Brunei, Abode of Peace, is located on the island of Borneo, in Southeast Asia.

There is a low threat from terrorism in Brunei. It has participated in anti-terror exercises with navies from other nations in the region.

Brunei is ranked No. 29 among the worst persecutors of Christians according to the Open Doors Watch List 2010. Islam is the state religion and restrictions on Christians are gradually increasing.

PRAISE
Christian broadcasting is available in Brunei and Christian literature is allowed for personal use. Though there are only two officially recognized churches, the number of Christian Believers continues to rise.

PRAYER

Pray for the Brunei government to discover new and effective ways to keep terrorism from successfully penetrating its borders. (The Bible, Proverbs 13:6)

Muslims are hoping Brunei will become a “pure” Islamic state by 2020. They are offering jobs and houses to those who will help spread Islam. Pray for Muslims in Brunei to meet Jesus Christ through dreams and visions. Pray that the enemy will be put to flight and Brunei will become a Christian state that brings honor and glory to God. (The Bible, Psalm 86:9; Leviticus 26:36)

Proselytizing by faiths other than Islam is not permitted. Pray for religious freedom in Brunei and ask the Lord of the Harvest to send more workers into this waiting harvest field. (The Bible, Matthew 9:37,38)

TARGETING TERRORISM

WIN partners have been focusing their prayer efforts on terrorism in the 10/40 Window for the past three years. As we continue to lift this urgent concern before the throne of the Most High God, it might be worthwhile to revisit the subject – to define our target and examine how it has changed since the prayer campaign began.

What is terrorism? For the purposes of intercession, we are defining it as “the unlawful use of force or violence against civilians (non-military) persons.” As we note in Praying Through the Window 9 Revised materials, terrorism is demonically inspired and has as its goal the destruction of human life (including families, communities, and entire societies and nations), as well as the promotion of chaos and panic.

In addition to the deadly acts carried out by groups such as al-Qaeda, we also consider violence against children and women a form of terrorism. Sexual abuse, slavery, and pedophilia fall into this category. All of these barbaric and horrendous attacks cause fear, and destroy lives, minds and hearts, and are motivated by man’s sin nature, as well as the enemy of our souls.

All terrorism grieves the heart of God. It was surely included in the great “wickedness of man” described in Genesis 6 that caused the LORD to be “sorry that He had made man on the earth” (The Bible, Genesis 6:5,6). In fact, sexual perversion was largely responsible for the evil being so great (The Bible, Genesis 6:1-4).

In the days of Noah, “every intent of the thoughts of [man’s] heart was evil continually” (The Bible, Genesis 6:5), and the LORD chose to deal with this by wiping out “both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air” (The Bible, Genesis 6:7). Although we find ourselves in a similar environment, with evil and wickedness rampant, we live in the age of grace – Jesus Christ having given His life and risen from the dead in order to rescue all those who are destined for and deserve eternal destruction.

So we pray… for the hearts of terrorists to be transformed by encounters with the living Christ… for the hearts of victims to be healed and drawn to salvation… for governments and leaders to counteract the vicious attacks of militants and extremists… for nations that are currently under siege to violent, satanic forces to be set free… and for the Kingdom of God to come to the 10/40 Window with great power.

Since Praying Through the Window 9 took aim at terrorism in October 2007, we have seen many victories and setbacks in the spiritual war on terrorism. In some nations, separatists have been defeated while in others, jihadists have risen up. The former can be seen in Sri Lanka and Iraq. The latter is exemplified in the expansion of the Taliban and al-Qaeda – both of which are having an impact on the 10/40 Window nations. The Taliban continues to operate in Afghanistan and is growing in numbers and strength in Pakistan. Al-Qaeda is proving to be resilient, clever, and flexible, often able to outwit national defenses and strategies. It is also quite adept at recruiting and financing. Originally based in Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda now has powerful arms in the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa, and has carried out terrorist attacks throughout the world.

While the names of these groups and their members tend to change from year to year, their objectives and motivation do not. They are aligned with demonic forces and are intent upon stealing, killing, and destroying anything and everything that does not surrender to their will. Like satan himself, terrorists seem to take delight in doing damage to children, women, the defenseless, the voiceless, and the innocent. Surely their punishment will be great.

PRAY FOR:

• the roots of this demonic activity to be severed – false religions, poverty, pride, and a desire to control. (The Bible, Isaiah 14:12-14)

• funding for terrorist organizations to be cut off. Pray for an end to the corruption and crime that make possible organized acts of destruction. (The Bible, Psalm 55:23)

• recruiting efforts to fail. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of leaders in al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and other groups, and to turn potential members away. Ask the Lord to set these blind, misguided minds free to know the Truth of His Son. (The Bible, Matthew 5:44)

• terrorist schemes to be exposed and for their attempts to harm people to be unsuccessful. Petition the Lord to uncover these groups, their hideouts, and training grounds. (The Bible, Daniel 2:22)

• troops and security forces to be kept safe as they bravely seek to combat, apprehend, and bring to justice those who are wreaking havoc in the service of the devil. (The Bible, Psalm 91)

• governments to remain vigilant in the long-term fight against these satanically-driven forces. Pray for the Lord to give them wisdom and strategies to effectively combat terrorism. (The Bible, Ephesians 6:12)

• Believers to stand firm, interceding until these groups cease to exist. (The Bible, Ephesians 6:10,11,18)

• the Lord to comfort victims and the families of those who have been killed and maimed by these acts. Ask Him to enable them to forgive. Pray for the Holy Spirit to use even these wicked actions to draw lost souls to salvation. (The Bible, II Corinthians 1:3,4)

• the Kingdom of God to come to every nation of the 10/40 Window, driving out terrorism and terrorists, and exalting the Lord Jesus Christ. (The Bible, I Cor. 4:20)

NORTH KOREA: A BLACK HOLE

Satellite photos of North Korea taken at night are quite revealing. Below the nation are the bright lights of South Korea. Above it, the lights of China. In between is a dark void.

In both a physical and a spiritual sense, North Korea is a black hole.

The oppressive communist regime of dictator Kim Jong Il has worked long and hard to keep the people of this nation cut off from the rest of the world. Information and communication are restricted. The paranoid government views other nations as enemies – especially neighboring South Korea.

In March 2010, North Korea attacked and sunk a South Korean naval ship without provocation. When South Korea organized military exercises in response to this flagrant act of war, North Korea threatened to use a “nuclear deterrent” to launch a “retaliatory sacred war.”

North Korea treats its own citizens with violent disdain. Untold millions (as many as 4 million) have died in famines and 200,000 (.85% of the population) are believed to be held in detainment centers and labor camps. Defectors describe the conditions in these facilities as horrendous. Political and religious prisoners are starved, raped, even murdered on a regular basis. There are also reports of forced abortions. It is estimated that at least 1 million people have been killed in these camps.

North Korea also holds the number one position on the Open Doors World Watch List 2010 for worst persecutors of Christians. It is considered the most difficult place on earth to be a Believer.

Because the government of North Korea views religion as a threat to national security, Believers are hunted like animals, arrested, tortured, and killed. Some have even been used as guinea pigs to test the effects of chemical and biological weapons.

“There is no other country in the world where Christians are being persecuted in such a horrible and systematic manner,” explains Carl Moeller, president of Open Doors USA.

Despite this brutal abuse, the Church in North Korea is growing. There are now at least 400,000 Believers in the nation.

PRAY FOR:

• the light of Jesus Christ to shine brightly throughout this dark nation. (The Bible, II Corinthians 4:6)
• the spiritual forces holding North Korea hostage to be bound and rendered powerless. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully, opening blind eyes and deaf ears to the Gospel. (The Bible, II Corinthians 10:4)

• the Lord to restrain all those in government who desire to wage war. Pray for peace in this volatile region. (The Bible, Psalm 46:8-10)

• those who are suffering from poverty, hunger, and abuse. Ask the Lord to provide for them and remind them of the high value they have in His sight. (The Bible, Psalm 22:26)

• Believers to be protected and encouraged. Plead with the Lord for the release of those in labor camps. Ask Him to be present with our Brothers and Sisters in North Korea. Pray for the joy of the Lord to be their strength. (The Bible, I Peter 4:13,14)

• the Church to continue to grow and for the Good News to be proclaimed throughout the nation. (The Bible, Acts 2:47; 8:4)

• a great spiritual awakening in North Korea that brings a tremendous harvest of souls into the Kingdom of God. (The Bible, John 4:35,36)

Dear 10/40 Window Prayer Partner,

Warm Kingdom greetings!

One of the many examples of what God is doing inside the Window comes from India. “The last decade has seen a great escalation of disciple making and church planting,” reports Dr. Victor Choudhrie, leader of a church planting movement in that nation. What does he mean by “a great escalation? Between Pentecost 2009 and Pentecost 2010, Choudhrie’s ministry saw one million baptisms. That’s a one followed by six zeros!

As is true of any revival or great awakening, this didn’t just happen. It was a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit ignited by the prayers of God’s people. “This was made possible because of an avalanche of prayer,” Dr. Choudhrie explains. “Both praying through the Spirit and praying through the mind. Holy Spirit-guided, informed strategy resulted in a huge harvest that we could not think or imagine.”

We are reaching out today to request your prayers for the releasing of financial resources for the ministry. WIN’s calling is to inform, mobilize effective transformational prayer, and equip strategic leaders in the 10/40 Window.

WIN urgently needs $25,000 by Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in order to meet our project goals. We ask you to fervently pray for WIN and make a financial investment of at least $10.40 Today.

You are a very important part to the advancement of the uncompromised Gospel in the 10/40 Window. Prayer is the key ingredient to the Gospel message penetrating this important region of the world for Christ.

Please pray about investing $10.40 monthly for the remainder of the year. We are currently looking at a $215,000 deficit for 2010. Your monthly partnership investment is critical to guarantee we properly mobilize strategic prayer and equip 10/40 Window leaders in effective prayer, spiritual warfare, evangelism, church growth, and discipleship.

Thank you for sending your partnership investment today at www.win1040.com/partnershipinvestment. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours for the 10/40 Window,

Hymnie’s 2010 Asia Tour
Wrap-Up

Hymnie: Hello, WindowKids! These past months have been very exciting. We have explored Southeast Asia from Sri-Lanka all the way to Burma and have met many friends along the way. This month we are going to remember our friends and pray for the countries we have visited.

I have a game to help us think about our friends from Southeast Asia. We’ll explore each country again, but this time leave out letters from certain words. You can fill in the missing letters to answer the questions.

Do you remember when we met Dayani from Sri Lanka? She was telling us about the churches in her nation. Dayani told us Believers in Sri Lanka need prayer for s _ _ _ _ _ to meet in public. She also asked for people to pray for f _ _ _ and w _ _ _ _ for the members of local churches.

Our next stop was Cambodia. In Cambodia we met our friend Rithisak. Rithisak is from S _ _ _ R_ _ _ , Cambodia. Rithisak told us a story about his brother and other children who have been hurt by l_ _ _ m _ _ _ _.

Next, we went to Indonesia to visit Melati. Melati described some of Indonesia’s oldest traditions and told how Believers are using these traditions to tell the story of the Gospel. Do you remember the beautiful puppets called W _ _ _ _ _ K _ _ _ _ ? They have been a part of Indonesia’s culture for thousands of years, and for the first time these puppets are being used to tell about Jesus and His miracles!

Our last stop on the tour was Myanmar. It has a violent history. But our friend, Sai Thet, told us about some of the miracles going on in Myanmar. This nation used to be called B_ _ _ _. When the country changed its name, the capital city became R _ _ _ _ _ _. Myanmar is known for its beautiful buildings and also for children being forced to become s _ _ _ _ _ _ _. We need to pray for families who have had their children taken away.

Asia is home to some of the most beautiful countries in the entire world. We need to pray for our friends in these countries, as well as the lost and unreached – the people who have never heard about Jesus!

When we pray, God does miracles!

Answers:
1.) Safety 2.) Food and Water 3.) Siem Reap 4.) Landmines 5.) Wayang Kulit
6.) Burma 7.) Rangoon 8.) Soldiers

DAY ONE
INDIA, SOUTH ASIA
Despite hundreds of acts of violence against Christians in India over the course of the past year, the Lord is moving powerfully.

PRAYER POINTS

DAY ONE
INDIA, SOUTH ASIA
Despite hundreds of acts of violence against Christians in India over the course of the past year, the Lord is moving powerfully. One ministry reported baptizing more than one million people between Pentecost 2009 and Pentecost 2010. Praise the Lord for this amazing work and for the faithfulness of His servants who are laboring in this dangerous harvest field. Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to move in hearts, drawing Hindus and Muslims into relationship with Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to protect our Brothers and Sisters as they face intense and growing persecution, giving them courage, strength, wisdom, and the boldness to proclaim the Gospel without fear or hesitation. Pray for the incredible awakening in India to grow and spill into Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the other nations of South Asia. Invite God’s Kingdom to come, His sovereign will to be done in India as it is in heaven.

MAURITANIA, NORTH AFRICA
In response to the growth and activity of terrorist groups in North Africa, the government of Mauritania is attempting to secure its borders for the first time. “These measures are prompted by the need to contain al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM),” explains one news source, “which has claimed responsibility for several spectacular terror attacks in Mauritania in the past few years.” Thank the Lord for Mauritania’s attention to this threat and for the government’s diligence in fighting militants and protecting its people. Pray for these efforts to be successful and for AQIM and all other terrorist organizations operating in this region to be unable to move freely, recruit, obtain funding, or carry out acts of violence. Ask the Lord to not only keep the citizens of Mauritania safe from terrorism, but set them free from the bondage of Islam. Pray for the veil to be lifted from their eyes and hearts, for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout the nation, and for multitudes to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY TWO
SUDAN, NORTH AFRICA
Representatives of the mostly-Muslim North and mostly-Christian South are asking the United Nations to oversee a referendum vote that will determine the future of the Abyei region. This area, located between the North and South is currently in limbo and is closed to industry and development. On the same day the referendum is scheduled to be voted on, the South will be voting to decide whether to remain part of Sudan or become an independent state. Pray for the Lord to guide and direct the two governments residing in this single nation. Ask for His will for the future of Sudan. Pray for leaders to be given wisdom and discernment in choosing how to govern the country and for elections to be free from rigging and violence. Cry out for those people groups who are unreached and need to hear the Gospel message. Pray for this time of uncertainty to be used by the Lord to turn hearts and minds to Jesus Christ. Plead for peace in Sudan. Ask for the Lord to keep believers safe and bring Muslims to a saving knowledge of Christ.

AFGHANISTAN, SOUTH ASIA
The government of Afghanistan was recently described as “corruption-ridden.” It has also been accused of being lenient and/or afraid of the Taliban forces operating throughout the nation. This comes after a sudden spike in attacks – more than 50 allied troops were killed in the first half of June 2010. Pray for the Lord to give key leaders wisdom and new strategies in dealing with the corruption, terrorism, and deadly violence plaguing this nation. Ask Him to bring the reign of the Taliban to an end, driving them from their strongholds and hiding places, exposing their plans, and bringing them to defeat. Pray for the protection of allied troops, as well as Afghan police, military, and security forces. Pray for the Lord to give them victory over the demonic schemes of every militant group operating in this region. Pray for the freedom of the Afghan people and for the Gospel to be made known throughout this country. Ask the Lord to speak to hearts, open blind spiritual eyes, and draw the citizens of this war-torn nation into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY THREE
KUWAIT, ARABIAN PENINSULA
A prince in the ruling family of Kuwait was murdered by his uncle in June 2010. The government is investigating what they are calling an “unprecedented killing” inside the royal family. The man accused of the act was not only related to the prince, but was a military intelligence officer. Pray for this event to cause citizens in Kuwait to see the effects of sin, the wicked heart of fallen mankind, and realize their need for a Savior. Ask the Lord to comfort the family of the prince, using this tragedy as an opportunity to reveal His love and power. Invite the Holy Spirit to move in Kuwait, awakening the mostly-Muslim population to the lies of Islam and the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come with great glory to this strategically positioned nation.

BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIA
Western governments are offering their support as Bangladesh seeks to establish democracy and fight terrorism. This assistance in promoting economic growth and engaging in counter-terrorism efforts is considered essential to the survival of the nation. Praise God for the way in which He is guiding Bangladesh out of corruption, poverty, and unjust rule, toward a new and hopeful future. Pray for the people of this young nation (which gained independence from Pakistan in 1971) to see the hand of the Lord directing and blessing Bangladesh. Ask the Lord to bring relief from poverty and hardship, and, as the Gospel is proclaimed, relief from spiritual oppression. Pray for Christian humanitarian agencies to preach and demonstrate the love of God and for many Bangladeshis to put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY FOUR
JAPAN, EAST ASIA
The government of Japan recently began questioning the usefulness of western military bases and forces located strategically throughout East Asia. Japanese leaders even implied alliances with western powers might be unnecessary. As one journalist noted, however, “Japan has territorial disputes with all of its neighbors, including both China and Taiwan, as well as Korea and Russia.” The military presence is “there to make any belligerent country think twice before making an aggressive move.” Pray for the government of Japan to exercise great wisdom and caution in choosing whom to be friends with and how to defend its borders. Cry out for the Lord Himself to be their defender and to reveal to the people of Japan that He is responsible for the blessings they enjoy. Pray for a great awakening as the Kingdom of God comes to Japan and the Gospel is preached throughout the nation. Ask the Lord for an abundant harvest of souls in Japan.

GUINEA-BISSAU, WEST AFRICA
The atmosphere in this West African nation is being described as tense and unstable – on the verge of plunging into chaos. After an April 1, 2010 military coup, Prime Minister Carlos Gomes Junior fled to Portugal. He returned recently under heavy security and is now facing a groundswell of calls for his resignation. Pray for the Lord to establish peace in this troubled nation: political peace that will provide hope to the people, and spiritual peace that will provide eternal salvation. Ask the Lord to raise up leaders who will serve Guinea-Bissau in humility and integrity. Pray for an end to the ongoing cycle of power-struggles and coups. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to this nation, bringing righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

DAY FIVE
BHUTAN, SOUTH ASIA
The resettlement of Bhutanese refugees who have fled to Nepal is now being called the largest UN resettlement program in the world. More than 32,000 Bhutan refugees have been sent out from Nepal to a variety of western nations. Tens of thousands remain in Nepal in camps that have been their home for almost 20 years. Pray for the diaspora of Bhutanese to be exposed to the Gospel message in their new homelands. Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send workers to minister to the Bhutanese in Bhutan and Nepal, as well as those scattered throughout the world, proclaiming to them the Good news. Pray for the people of this nation to be set free from Buddhism and other false religions and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

SAUDI ARABIA, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Out of more than one hundred Saudi terrorists released from a western detention center and put through a rehabilitation program in Saudi Arabia, at least 25 have returned to al-Qaeda. The rehabilitation program was initiated after a series of attacks inside Saudi Arabia between 2003 and 2006. Despite having 20% of the participants “relapse,” Saudi Arabia is now planning five more rehabilitation facilities. Pray for the Lord to give the leaders of this nation wisdom and discernment in their handling of dangerous militants. Ask Him to reveal Himself to members of the Saudi government, as well as al-Qaeda, through dreams, visions, and personal testimonies. Pray for their hearts to be softened and for them to respond to the Gospel, putting their faith in Jesus Christ. Invite the Kingdom of God to come to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia as it is in heaven.

DAY SIX
GUINEA, WEST AFRICA
In the months leading up to this nation’s first free election in 50 years (June 27, 2010), western troops were brought in to train Guinea’s presidential guard. The goal was to “ensure that there is a professional, capable, and impartial presidential guard for the newly elected president of Guinea.” Pray for this strategy to effectively keep corruption and manipulation from continuing to contaminate the government of Guinea. Ask the Lord to work powerfully in raising up leaders who will serve this nation in righteousness and the fear of the Lord. Pray for the Believers in Guinea to intercede for their homeland with great passion and tenacity during this important period. Pray for a smooth transition of power. Cry out to the Lord for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout Guinea, to every people, tribe, and tongue. Pray for a great harvest of souls.

THAILAND, SOUTHEAST ASIA
After two months of violent anti-government demonstrations resulted in the burning of more than 30 buildings, 88 deaths, and nearly 2000 wounded, the government of Thailand is attempting to move forward. However, the economy and the political atmosphere remain volatile. The nation has experienced 10 coups in the past forty years and the last coup (2006) is still being questioned and challenged. Pray for this very unstable nation. Ask the Lord to use this time of uncertainty and anxiety to turn hearts toward the only true and sure foundation: Jesus Christ. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in opening blind spiritual eyes to the reality that lasting peace cannot be found in politics or brought about by force. Pray for the Prince of Peace to be revealed to the Thai people and for multitudes to put their faith and hope in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY SEVEN
NIGER, WEST AFRICA
With nearly 7 million people in Niger facing food shortages, hunger, and even starvation because of crop failures, some are choosing to illegally cross the border into Nigeria in search of relief. “Many women and children from Niger are seeking shelter with local families. There are also reports of women going from house to house begging for food.” Pray for the Lord to open doors for Christian humanitarian agencies to minister to the needs of the hungry and suffering in Niger and Nigeria. Ask for opportunities for the Gospel to be presented along with desperately needed food and clean water. Pray for the Lord to provide for the needs of the Nigeriens and enable them to see His love in these acts and be open to receiving the eternal life offered in Jesus Christ.

KYRGYZSTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
Ethnic violence continues to plague this nation with at least two regions having declared a state of emergency. “Clashes between ethnic Kyrgyz and Uzbeks that began June 10 [2010] in Osh and Jalalabad have killed an estimated 2,000 people, and have led nearly 400,000 ethnic Uzbeks to cross into Uzbekistan or mass near the border.” Pray for the Lord to intervene in this crisis, stopping the conflict and restraining the opposing groups from further violence. Cry out for the Uzbek women who are reportedly being raped at gun and knifepoint by Kyrgyz gangs. Plead with the Lord to restore order to this quickly disintegrating nation. Pray for the Kyrgyz and Uzbeks to look to Jesus Christ for help, hope, and peace. Ask the Lord to protect our Brothers and Sisters in Kyrgyzstan and use them as His lights to drive out the darkness. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to this nation.

DAY EIGHT
IRAN, MIDDLE EAST
The government of Iran executed a rebel leader in June 2010 after a revolutionary court found him guilty of 79 charges. Among the charges was his connection to western and Israeli intelligence agencies. He also founded a militant anti-government organization that Iran considered a terrorist group. Pray for the motives of the government to be made clear – whether this was indeed a punishment for crimes, or yet another excuse to dispose of a member of the opposition. Ask the Lord to move among the leadership of Iran, especially in the hearts of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Pray for a great awakening in this nation as the Gospel is proclaimed to every people group. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls and for His Kingdom to come, His will to be done in Iran.

BURKINA FASO, WEST AFRICA
With meningitis already spreading, the nation of Burkina Faso is now facing a food shortage. Like Niger and other West African nations, Burkina Faso has been experiencing a drought and resulting crop failures. An estimated 10 million people are in danger of severe hunger and malnutrition. Pray for the Lord to supply the needs of the people in Burkina Faso and throughout West Africa. Pray for this to be an occasion for them to turn to Him and cry out for help. Ask for Christian aid groups to be allowed to provide the food and clean water these people need and enabled to share the Gospel in both their actions and words. Pray for the restoration of this nation – physically and spiritually. Cry out for the Lord to send healing rain that will bless the land and draw many Burkinabes into His Kingdom.

DAY NINE
MALI, WEST AFRICA
The military forces of this West African nation are continuing to train in response to the growth and increased activity of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). According to recent reports, the terrorist group has doubled in size (from 200 to 400 members) in just one year. Analysts believe AQIM is linking with drug smugglers and also enlisting help from the region’s nomadic tribes. “As the extremists get stronger and wealthier,” the Associated Press reports, “they are attracting more recruits among local youth and Muslims in sub-Saharan Africa.” Pray for the Lord to protect the young people of Mali and other West and North African countries from the deceptions and lies of AQIM. Ask Him to cut off their funding sources, cause their recruiting efforts to fail, and defeat their attempts to carry out jihad. Pray for the government of Mali to remain diligent in fighting this threat and to allocate the resources necessary to keep its people and borders safe. Ask the Lord to use the fear of terrorism as a means of directing people’s attention to eternity and their need for a Savior. Pray for His peace to blanket the land as the citizens hear and respond to the Gospel, putting their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

AZERBAIJAN, SOUTHWEST ASIA
The nation of Azerbaijan has been classified as a “poor performer” in terms of human rights by a various watchdog groups. The ongoing trial of a journalist who wrote a series of articles “critical of government” is a good example. Though the European Court ruled in April 2010 that the writer had been falsely accused simply to silence him, the government of Azerbaijan has no plans to suspend the trial. Pray for the corruption, manipulation, and control being carried out in Azerbaijan to be exposed and dealt with swiftly. Ask the Lord to raise up men and women who will lead the nation in integrity, seeking to serve the people rather than abuse them. Petition the Lord to pour out His Holy Spirit on Azerbaijan, opening hard hearts and liberating those who are in bondage to Islam. Pray for a great awakening in this nation and for multitudes to come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Indonesia is serious about fighting terrorism and has developed an “elite Detachment 88,” anti-terror squad to respond quickly and decisively to threats. (The squad is named in honor of the 88 Australians who were killed in the 2002 bombings in Bali.) While some human rights organizations have questioned the tactics of the unit, it has been highly effective in countering terrorist plots. Pray for the Lord to give the leaders of Indonesia wisdom in this ongoing struggle against demonic activities. Ask the Lord to protect the people of Indonesia and allow them to see His love displayed in Jesus Christ. Pray for a great awakening in Indonesia and a tremendous harvest of souls as the Gospel is proclaimed throughout this nation.

DAY ELEVEN
LAOS, SOUTHEAST ASIA
Ranked number nine on the Open Doors World Watch List 2010 of worst persecutors of Christians, the government of Laos has also been given another dubious award: one of the world’s worst violators of human rights. According to a report released in June 2010, Laos is among the 17 nations “where human beings suffer from some of the most severe and systematic human rights abuses in the world.” Pray for Believers living in this oppressive country to be strengthened by the joy of the Lord and bold in sharing their faith, despite the very real threat of persecution. Ask the Lord to be present with them, surround them with His love and comfort, and enable them to proclaim the Gospel throughout Laos, to every people and tongue. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to this nation, transforming the hearts of communist leaders, members of the military, and those who practice Buddhism and ethnic religions. Cry out for the Spirit of God to move in Laos, setting the people free from the lies of the enemy and leading them into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

WESTERN SAHARA, NORTH AFRICA
In June 2010, the leaders of South Africa and Algeria called for an immediate end to human rights violations in Western Sahara and for a referendum that would lead to the nation’s independence from Morocco. The men “condemned the violation of human rights” in this region and issued an “urgent appeal” to the United Nations to protect Sahrawi rights and provide Western Sahara with autonomy. Praise the Lord for this bold stand. Pray for the government of Morocco and for the United Nations to not only listen to this appeal, but respond swiftly, bringing a stop to the violations and seeking to set the Sahrawi free to return to their homeland. Ask the Lord to speak to the hearts of the Sahrawi as they continue to struggle to survive in refugee camps in Algeria. Pray for this time of homelessness to be an opportunity for them to cry out to the Lord and find their true hope and home in relationship with Jesus Christ.

DAY TWELVE
EGYPT, NORTH AFRICA
Although Egypt is overwhelming Muslim, the culture is beginning to change. Men and women still conform to the standards of Islam in appearance (the way they dress and eat), but some are questioning the meaning of their religion. “There is a lot of pressure on the street [in Egypt] to at least appear pious,” one journalist recently noted. “But that is not how everyone wants to live, not all the time.” Pray for this dissatisfaction with past traditions and rigid, works-based religion to be used to draw people into a relationship with the True and Living God through the death and resurrection of His only Son, Jesus Christ.

With Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks clashing in Kyrgyzstan, thousands of Uzbeks are fleeing to their homeland. “Mostly children and elderly people are staying in the 47 camps in 7 separate regions in Andijan, the closest city of Uzbekistan to the border with Kyrgyzstan.” Pray for these refugees. Ask the Lord to provide them with food, shelter, and clean water. Pray for Christian humanitarian agencies to gain access to these camps and minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the people. Plead with the Lord for a peaceful resolution to the violence in Kyrgyzstan and for His protection over the Uzbek people. Pray for those who have left their jobs, homes, and families to find a new life in Uzbekistan – and new life in Jesus Christ.

DAY THIRTEEN
NEPAL, SOUTH ASIA
A resident of Nepal recently called the political atmosphere in this troubled nation “crazy.” He went on to describe the demonstrations by Maoists in Kathmandu and the union strike a recipe for disaster. If the strife between the government and Maoists doesn’t end soon, he warned, “many are going to die… the situation will be worse.” In another blow to stability, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal resigned in June 2010. Pray for the Lord to intervene in Nepal. Ask Him to lead the two opposing sides to a diplomatic and peaceful settlement of their differences. Pray for this time of instability to be used to turn hearts and minds toward the sure foundation of Jesus Christ. Petition the Lord to protect Believers in Nepal and use them to make the Gospel known to the leaders, Maoists, Buddhists, and Hindus throughout the nation. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to Nepal with great power, signs and wonders.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, ARABIAN PENINSULA
In June 2010, the government of the United Arab Emirates closed 40 businesses that were in violation of the UN sanctions against Iran. According to a Gulf News report, “These companies have been dealing in ‘dual-use and dangerous materials banned under UN resolutions and the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.’” Officials also said any other companies found to be ignoring the UN ban will be immediately shut down. Praise God for this courageous stand against terrorism and the development of weapons of mass destruction. Pray for the Lord to give the government wisdom in dealing with nations like Iran and in continuing their stand against terrorism in all forms. Ask the Lord to pour His Spirit out upon this key, strategically-located Arab and Muslim nation. Pray for a spiritual awakening and a great harvest of souls. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to the UAE as it is in heaven.

DAY FOURTEEN
ALBANIA, SOUTHEAST EUROPE
Members of the Socialist Party (SP), a group in opposition to the current government in Albania, staged demonstrations in May 2010. Thousands of people marched in the streets in protest of the June 2009 elections, which they claim were rigged. Pray for the Lord to restore order to this nation, ridding the government of corruption and also keeping those in opposition from resorting to violence in order to present their case. Ask for the Holy Spirit to use this time of turmoil and distress to open blind eyes and deaf ears to the message of the Gospel. Pray for the people of Albania to seek something more significant and lasting than a political fix. Petition the Lord to move in great power, bringing His Kingdom to Albania with righteousness, peace, and joy.

MOROCCO, NORTH AFRICA
In recent months, Morocco has begun cracking down on Christians, expelling missionaries and others they believe might be proselytizing. In March 2010 alone, 40 expatriate Believers were deported. In a press release, the interior minister claimed that those who had been ordered to leave were “guilty of trying to undermine the faith of Muslims.” Pray for those laboring in this difficult harvest field, as well as the multitudes of Moroccans who are being held captive by Islam. Ask the Lord to provide open doors for the Gospel to be preached to every people group in this nation. Pray for the hearts of Moroccans to be softened and their blind eyes opened to see and receive the truth of Jesus Christ. Plead with the Lord for the protection of indigenous Believers and for the Holy Spirit to move, drawing more and more to salvation. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come in great power to Morocco.

DAY FIFTEEN
IRAQ, MIDDLE EAST
The war and ongoing terrorism in Iraq are taking a great toll on the people. “More and more Iraqis are seeking medical treatment for trauma-induced illnesses, and the medical community is unable to keep up. “Many people self-medicate,” BBC News reports, “and prescription drug abuse is now the number one substance abuse problem in Iraq.” Cry out on behalf of this troubled nation and its hurting people. Pray for the Lord to minister healing to their damaged minds, hearts, and souls. Ask Him to use Christian organizations as His hands and feet to provide for the physical and spiritual needs of the Iraqis. Pray for an end to the violence, an end to al-Qaeda, and a new season of restoration for this nation. Invite God’s Kingdom to come and ask the Lord to bring many to a saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ.

SRI LANKA, SOUTH ASIA
The United Nations has appointed a panel to investigate accusations of human rights abuses in Sri Lanka. Until now, the government of Sri Lanka has “rejected calls for an international probe into possible war crimes committed during the country’s war with the Tamil Tiger rebels.” Pray for Jehovah Rophe to bring healing and reconciliation in the aftermath of this nation’s 25-year civil war. Petition the Lord to bring justice and for past wrongs to be dealt with and forgiven. Plead for this to be a new season in Sri Lanka – a time of awakening in which the Gospel is proclaimed, reaches every people group, and is received by multitudes. Pray for Sri Lankans to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY SIXTEEN
ISRAEL, MIDDLE EAST
“Isolation” is the word being used to describe not only Israel’s position in the world today, but the feelings of many Israelis. Their unwillingness to give up Jerusalem and the recent, deadly attack on an aid flotilla headed for the Gaza Strip, have caused many nations – including some of Israel’s friends – to turn against them. While the government seems to be standing firm in its approach to criticism, the citizens are increasingly concerned. “There’s nothing they fear more,” writes one historian, “than being alone in the world.” Cry out for the peace and safety of Jerusalem and Israel. Ask the Lord of Hosts to be their ever-present help in this time of trouble. Pray for the Israeli people to realize they are not alone but are greatly cared for and sought after by the King of kings. Pray for spiritual eyes and ears to be open to the Gospel and for the Jewish people to recognize and receive Yeshua ha Messiah.

TAJIKISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
With violence escalating between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan is caught in the geographic middle – a thin arm of Tajikistan runs between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. That narrow piece of Tajikistan is also suspected of harboring Islamic militants, some of whom may have sought refuge there from Afghanistan (a neighbor to the south).

Just two weeks before the anniversary of the violence in Xinjiang (hundreds died and thousands were injured as Muslim Uighurs and Han Chinese clashed), the government of China announced that it had cracked a major terrorist cell in the region. Officials say separatists and terrorists are active in this area, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pray for honesty and integrity in the Chinese government’s efforts to counteract terrorism. Ask the Lord to grant them wisdom in fighting militant groups and attempting to protect their citizens. Intercede on behalf of the residents of this and other areas of China where ethnic violence and persecution are an ongoing threat. Pray for the Lord to protect our Brothers and Sisters as they boldly make the Gospel known throughout this vast nation. Plead for the souls of the lost and for the spiritual awakening that has been going on in China to continue and grow.

DJIBOUTI, EAST AFRICA
The tiny nation of Djibouti is considered the front line in the current war on global terrorism. It is not only strategically located at the mouth of the Red Sea, but is home to the only major western military base in sub-Saharan Africa. Pray for Djibouti to be used mightily to fight against and defeat jihadists and extremists. Ask the Lord to protect this nation from both military and spiritual retaliation. Invite the Holy Spirit to move throughout the land, drawing the lost and unreached into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to Djibouti as it is in heaven.

DAY EIGHTEEN
YEMEN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Yemeni security forces acted quickly after a “spectacular attack” on their headquarters in Aden, arresting a terrorist believed to be the mastermind and also suspected of being a member of al-Qaeda. Pray for the Lord to protect the people of Yemen from al-Qaeda and other terrorist and insurgent groups roaming the nation. Ask Him to impart wisdom and understanding to the government in their attempts to counter these groups and their deadly attacks. Pray for terrorists to be exposed, their funding cut off, their organizations thrown into confusion, and for their recruiting efforts to fail. Plead with the Lord for the lost and unreached of Yemeni to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel, respond to it, and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

VIETNAM, SOUTHEAST ASIA
In June 2010, Vietnam was added to a watch list of nations guilty of human trafficking. It was accused of “failing to prevent women from being forced into prostitution.” Pray for an immediate end to this degrading, criminal practice. Ask the Lord to transform the hearts of those who use and abuse others for profit. Cry out for the victims – women and children – who are forced or enticed into slavery and often suffer violence and poverty. Ask the Lord to work mightily in this nation, giving Believers boldness to proclaim the Gospel under the threat of fierce persecution, and opening the spiritually blind eyes and deaf ears of the lost to realize their need for a Savior. Pray for multitudes to trust in Jesus Christ.

DAY NINETEEN
TAIWAN, EAST ASIA
More than 50% of the Taiwanese people believe life is worse under the leadership of President Ma Ying-jeou. Two years after Ma was elected, most citizens see poverty growing worse and 58.6% of those surveyed said they are dissatisfied with his policies. Pray for the Lord to give President Ma direction in guiding the nation of Taiwan forward. Ask Him to provide new ideas and strategies for addressing the problem of poverty. Pray for the dissatisfaction the people are experiencing to motivate them to seek fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Petition the Lord for a great and widespread spiritual awakening that will lead multitudes into relationship with Christ as Savior and Lord.

BAHRAIN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Security forces in Bahrain arrested 14 people attempting to enter the country on forged passports in May 2010. They also caught two Iranians with forged British passports. The fake passports were detected because of increased security levels and updated equipment intended to prevent smuggling and terrorism. Praise the Lord for enabling authorities to catch those seeking to commit crimes and engage in acts of violence. Thank Him for the technology, expertise, and opportunities to stop these activities. Pray for Bahrain to be an example to other governments in being vigilant in securing their borders and in apprehending international criminals. Ask the Lord to reveal to the people of Bahrain that He is the ultimate source of their security and safety. Pray for the veil to be removed from their eyes and for those enslaved by Islam to be set free. Petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls in Bahrain.

DAY TWENTY
BRUNEI, SOUTHEAST ASIA
In June 2010, the Brunei navy participated in joint counter-terrorism exercises with Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The exercises included tracking and boarding ships suspected of being used for criminal and terrorist activities, as well as securing ports. Pray for these and other drills to be a deterrent to extremists groups. Intercede for the governments of Brunei and their Southeast Asian neighbors to be prepared to respond to terrorism and be diligent in attempting to keep their citizens safe. Ask the Lord to move powerfully in this Muslim nation, removing the veil of Islam from the eyes of every people group and drawing them into relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

LEBANON, MIDDLE EAST
In the aftermath of Israel’s attack on a flotilla of ships attempting to break through the Gaza blockade, Lebanon is warning that incidents of this nature will be considered acts of war. The government has announced repeatedly that it is ready and willing to engage Israel in battle. As one journalist put it, “A Lebanon-Israel conflict is a matter of when, not if….” Pray for the Prince of Peace to move powerfully in the Middle East, maintaining peace and guiding the actions of the Lebanese government. Ask Him to give them wisdom, patience, and restraint. Pray for an end to Hezbollah and other terrorist groups operating in Lebanon. Petition the Lord to establish His Kingdom in this nation, bringing righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Pray for multitudes of Lebanese to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY TWENTY-ONE
QATAR, ARABIAN PENINSULA
“Qatar is unlike many of the other Arab countries that support the Palestinians,” a news source noted recently. The comment was in reference to Qatar’s investment in constructing a new city in the West Bank. “The Palestinians should be doing more of this,” the report said, “building Palestine and switching gears from the confrontational-style politics of Hamas, Hizbullah, Iran….” Pray for the government of Qatar to continue this positive work in the West Bank and abstain from supporting terrorism. Ask the Lord to use these efforts to bless those who have lost homes, jobs, and even families in the ongoing conflict in this region. Pray for the Lord to move in softening the hearts of the leaders and people of Qatar, freeing them from the darkness of Islam and leading them into the light of Jesus Christ.

TURKMENISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
Turkmenistan has the third or fourth largest natural gas reserves in the world (depending on the source of information). It also borders Iran and Afghanistan. These two facts give it great value in the global economy, as well as making it a very strategic nation in terms of the war on terrorism. Pray for the leaders of Turkmenistan – especially President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow – to encounter the Living Christ. Pray for the Lord to give them wisdom in dealing with neighboring countries and in securing their borders against terrorists. Plead for a great harvest of souls in this important nation and ask the Lord to give Believers boldness and opportunities to share the Gospel. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come to Turkmenistan in great power.

DAY TWENTY-TWO
ETHIOPIA, EAST AFRICA
Opposition leaders claim elections held in Ethiopia in May “failed to implement the electoral law signed by both parties.” The ruling party (EPRDF) won by a wide margin. Members of the opposition say they were physically attacked and voters were forced to support the EPRDF. They are calling the outcome “unfair, biased, and undemocratic.” Pray for peace in this troubled nation. Pray for justice to be served, manipulation and corruption exposed and rooted out. Ask the Lord to give the government wisdom and courage in moving the nation forward, acting with integrity and in the fear of the Lord. Pray for a great awakening in Ethiopia – a revival among Believers and for multitudes of the lost and unreached to respond to the Gospel, putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

MYANMAR (BURMA), SOUTHEAST ASIA
With Myanmar’s first elections in two decades scheduled to be held sometime this year (no date has been set), the government is preparing to restrict political activity, opposition, and the threat of violence during the voting. They have banned marches, flag waving, and chanting. International observers have already stated the election will be a sham and will lack legitimacy. Pray for the Lord to work in the hearts of the military leadership of this nation. Ask for men and women of His choosing to be appointed to guide this nation, serving the people in honesty and integrity. Pray for a new season in Myanmar as the Kingdom of God comes and the people of every ethnic group respond to the Gospel, putting their trust in Christ.

DAY TWENTY-THREE
CHAD, CENTRAL AFRICA
The drought, crop failures, and the resulting food crisis have stretched from West Africa, all the way to the Central African nation of Chad. “The situation here,” says a United Nations representative, “is desperate. There is not enough food in the country, over 2 million people here are not getting enough.” Pray for the Lord to provide relief for the people of Chad and the rest of the nations where people are experiencing severe malnutrition and famine. Cry out for Christian humanitarian agencies to be empowered with the resources and opportunities to distribute food and clean water. Pray for rain in this drought-stricken region and for the Lord to receive the credit for this blessing, demonstrating His love for the people and drawing many into relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

ALGERIA, NORTH AFRICA
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), an affiliate of al-Qaeda, is now well-entrenched in Algeria and Mali. The group is growing in size and has constructed “very protected shelters” intended to shield them from air raids. Analysts say the terrorists are elusive, well organized, and highly mobile, thriving in the expansive Sahara desert. Pray for the Lord to give the government of Algeria wisdom in fighting and defeating AQIM. Plead for the safety of the people in this and other West and North African nations. Ask the Lord to expose and scatter the ranks of AQIM and every other terrorist and extremist group hiding in Algeria. Pray for the revival taking place in this nation to continue and spread as the Holy Spirit sets Muslims free from religious bondage and introduces them to life in Jesus Christ.

Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to leaders – especially Muammar al-Qadhafi – and to every people group in this Muslim nation. Pray for them to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel, be set free from the bondage of Islam and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

MALAYSIA, SOUTHEAST ASIA
As the government of Malaysia attempts to implement economic reforms, they are being met by a “growing assertiveness” and resistance by the majority Malay Muslim population. Two of the nation’s political parties (the United Malays National Organization and the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party) are pressuring for stronger adherence to Shari’a (Islamic) law. This has non-Muslims (especially Christians) worried about being further persecuted and marginalized. Pray for the Lord to protect our Brothers and Sisters in Malaysia as they face strong opposition. Ask the Lord to strengthen them and give them boldness in witnessing to the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for the strongholds of Islam to be torn down in Malaysia and for the prisoners to be liberated by the Gospel. Plead with the Lord for members from every people group in this nation to be represented before His throne in eternity. Invite His Kingdom to come in Malaysia as it is in heaven.

DAY TWENTY-FIVE
OMAN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Believers laboring in Oman report that the fields are ripe for harvest. But one thing is lacking: workers. They are praying for English teachers and other tentmakers, as well as “more workers in Oman in general.” Praise the Lord for the move of His Holy Spirit in this closed, Muslim nation. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send more laborers into His harvest field. Ask the Lord to penetrate every city, suburb, and region of Oman: Muscat, Muttrah, Ruwi, Sidab, Al Seeb, Bowshar, Quiryat, Al Bustan, Al Qurum, Qantab, Bahla, Nizwa…. Pray for blind spiritual eyes to be opened to see the Light of the Gospel, deaf ears made to hear the Truth of the Gospel. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Oman and ask Him to bring a great harvest of souls.

KAZAKHSTAN, CENTRAL ASIA
Anti-terrorism police in Kazakhstan have been cracking down on religious minorities rather than terrorists. In April 2010, police working with the Department for Kazakhstan’s Fight Against Extremism, Separatism and Terrorism raided a Baptist ordination service, demanding that the church register with the government. In June 2010, police with the same organization raided an evening service at another Baptist church. The government stated they view “unlawful religious meetings as a threat.” Pray for the Believers in Kazakhstan to stand strong and firm as they encounter increasing resistance and persecution. Pray for the Lord to be present with them, filling them with joy and peace, and giving them boldness in testifying to the truth of Jesus Christ. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to Kazakhstan with power, signs, and wonders. Cry out to the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation.

DAY TWENTY-SIX
TUNISIA, NORTH AFRICA
In May 2010, the government of Tunisia imprisoned 11 men, charging them with funding terrorism and recruiting members for a terrorist organization. Approximately 2,000 people have been arrested on terrorism charges since 2003. Praise the Lord for Tunisia’s stand against terrorism. Pray for the leaders to continue to combat Islamic extremist and deal with it swiftly and decisively. Cry out for the people of this Muslim nation to have the opportunity to hear the Good News that Jesus Christ has provided a way for them to be forgiven of their sins and spend eternity with the Lord. Pray for multitudes in Tunisia to put their faith in Christ.

CAMBODIA, SOUTHEAST ASIA
The government of Cambodia is taking steps to ensure that another genocide does not occur in their nation. Banners and slogans are being posted in schools to encourage students to learn about the murderous Khmer Rouge regime. According to studies, “Many young Cambodians are unaware that up to two million people died through overwork, starvation and execution under the brutal regime.” Pray for the healing of this nation. Ask the Lord to bring forgiveness and reconciliation between people groups. Pray for the salvation of Cambodia’s leadership. Petition the Lord to make Himself known and for the Gospel to be preached throughout this land. Pray for a mighty harvest of souls as the Kingdom of God comes to Cambodia.

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN
TURKEY, SE EUROPE & SW ASIA
When Israel’s attack on the flotilla in June 2010 resulted in the deaths of nine Turkish citizens, Prime Minister Erdogan reacted with “unbridled anger and fierce hostility.” Erdogan issued a statement saying Israel was guilty of state terrorism and a bloody massacre. The Turkish foreign minister compared the incident to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centers: “This attack is like 9/11 for Turkey.” Pray for peace to prevail throughout the Middle East and especially in Turkey. Ask the Lord to restrain the demonic forces that are seeking to bring violence and destruction to the region. Pray for Prime Minister Erdogan to hear the Gospel and for his heart to be pierced by the Good New. Pray for multitudes of Turks to come to faith in Jesus Christ during this critical time.

NORTH KOREA, EAST ASIA
According to an expert in East Asian politics, “There’s little chance that North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il was unaware of his country’s attack on the [South Korean] warship.” He goes on to say that Jong-Il had to have been intimately involved in the planning and execution of the attack. Tensions between North and South Korea are high and the possibility of war between these nations is considered likely. Pray for the Lord to intervene in North Korea, calling Kim Jong-Il and his administration out from enemy darkness, into the light of Jesus Christ. Plead for a great awakening in this nation and for the Lord to stand with Believers who are being persecuted and imprisoned. Cry out for the people of this closed nation to be set free to know and love the True and Living God.

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT
SOMALIA, EAST AFRICA
Child soldiers are now common in Somalia. Not just among the marauding bands of Islamic extremists such as al-Shabaab and Hizbul-Islam. They are now being enlisted by the government to help fight insurgents and terrorist groups. Boys as young as eight are being issued rifles and posted at dangerous checkpoints, charged with performing security duties. The United Nations lists Somalia as one of the “most persistent violators” in the world of using child soldiers. Plead for this nation. Cry out for the Lord to bring an end to the violence and chaos, restoring order and peace. Intercede on behalf of the child soldiers, as well as the refugees – many of them widows and orphans – who are struggling to survive in primitive and dangerous camps. Petition God to be an Advocate for those with no voice. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to this land with great power and for many to put their faith and hope in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

PAKISTAN, SOUTH ASIA
Membership in the Pakistani Taliban is growing with new splinter groups of terrorists rising up all over the country. One of them, the Punjabi Taliban, is considered an “expanding terror menace” and is reportedly preparing to launch massive and deadly attacks throughout Pakistan. Pray for the Lord to protect the people of Pakistan from this new threat. Ask Him to root out and destroy every arm of the Taliban and every terrorist organization operating in the country. Pray for them to be exposed and driven from their hiding places, their funding cut off, and their ability to recruit and carry out attacks curtailed. Intercede for our Brothers and Sisters as they spread the Gospel in this very dangerous environment. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed to all people groups and for multitudes to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY TWENTY-NINE
NIGERIA, WEST AFRICA
This already troubled nation (rife with poverty, terrorist threats, and persecution against Christians) is now dealing with rampant corruption among its lawmakers. In June 2010, a meeting of the Nigerian parliament actually degenerated into a brawl after 11 members were suspended and accused of corruption. Among those under investigation is Speaker Oladimeji Bankole, who has allegedly embezzled millions of dollars. Pray for a revival to sweep through Nigeria, refreshing Believers and turning the hearts of the lost to the Lord. Pray for scandals in the government to be made public and for justice to be served. Ask the Lord to raise up leaders who will govern with integrity, honesty, and righteousness. Petition the Lord to strengthen and comfort His Church as they face intense and deadly persecution. Pray for the Gospel to reach every people group and result in a great harvest of souls.

MALDIVES, SOUTH ASIA
The Maldives has been added to the watch-list of the world’s worst human traffickers. A new report states that the nation has failed to “investigate or prosecute trafficking-related offenses or take concrete actions to protect trafficking victims and prevent trafficking in Maldives.” Pray for the leaders of the Maldives to take notice of the accusation and begin to fight against this criminal activity. Pray for the Lord to give them wisdom in stopping human slavery, forced labor, and prostitution within their borders. Ask Him to be present with the victims, encouraging them and providing them with a means of escape. Pray for the widows and orphans to be cared for. Petition the Lord to send more workers to this Muslim nation and for the Gospel to be preached to every people group. Invite God’s Kingdom to come to the Maldives.

JORDAN, MIDDLE EAST
Pray for the Lord to work in this complicated and difficult situation. Ask Him to give King Abdullah II and other leaders in the Middle East wisdom in resolving problems and disputes. Intercede for Israel and ask the Lord to give them favor in the eyes of Jordan. Pray for the Lord to work His will in Jordan, strengthening His Body and drawing Muslims into relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

SENEGAL, WEST AFRICA
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM – a terrorist group affiliated with al-Qaeda) is reportedly attempting to expand into Nigeria in order to establish itself in West Africa. One of the organizations goals is to reach and put down roots in Senegal so that it can dominate not only the Sahara, but the Sahel desert region and the coast. Pray for the Lord to stop this rampage across North Africa. Ask Him to supply the government of Senegal with the resources and training they need to protect their nation from AQIM. Pray for the defeat of AQIM – an immediate end to their financing, recruiting, and operations. Pray for the people of Senegal to put their trust in the Lord. Petition Him to be their refuge and fortress against this and every other force of evil. Ask for a tremendous harvest of souls in Senegal.

DAY THIRTY
ERITREA, EAST AFRICA
Since the authoritarian government closed independent churches in 2002, Believers in this nation have faced deadly persecution. Tens of thousands of citizens have been arrested and tortured, many of them Christians. It is estimated that 3,000 Believers are currently detained and imprisoned for their faith. Pray for the Lord to be present with these precious Brothers and Sisters, providing them with comfort, strength, encouragement, and joy. Ask for Him to use them as His ambassadors to witness to their fellow prisoners and guards. Invite the Holy Spirit to move in Eritrea, softening hard hearts and opening blind eyes. Pray for a great awakening as the Gospel is preached throughout the nation and for a tremendous harvest of souls as the lost put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

TIBET, SOUTH ASIA
In June 2010, police in neighboring Nepal attempted to forcibly repatriate (send back) “a group of sick Tibetan refugees, some of them children.” The group was among the thousands of Tibetans seeking asylum in Nepal. According to human rights groups, hundreds flee Tibet every year to escape political and religious repression. Pray for this isolated, Chinese-controlled nation. Plead with the Lord for the health, protection, and future of the Tibetans inside and outside of Tibet. Ask Him to remind them daily of His great love for them and make known to them the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for the Tibetans to realize their unique place in God’s creation and for the Lord to enlighten the eyes of their hearts to know the hope to which they are being called (The Bible, Ephesians 1:18). Invite God’s Kingdom to come and ask for a great harvest of souls in Tibet.

SYRIA, MIDDLE EAST
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad recently stated that “Israel is not a ‘partner for peace.’” Because of this attitude, al-Assad feels the necessity to prepare his nation for conflict. “When you don’t have peace,” he said, “you have to expect war.” In the aftermath of Israeli’s attack on a blockade-busting flotilla, Syria has continued to align itself with Iran and Turkey. Pray for the salvation of President al-Assad. Cry out for the people of Syria, asking the Lord to pour out His Holy Spirit on this nation and draw the Muslim people into relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for peace in the Middle East and for Syria to use wisdom in choosing allies. Pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Syria as it is in heaven.

MONGOLIA, NORTH ASIA
Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj was one of several leaders who met in Istanbul, Turkey in June 2010 to discuss securing Asia against terrorism. The goal of the talks was not only to discuss counter terrorism efforts, but to develop cooperation between nations in the fight against global jihadists. Pray for the Lord to give President Elbegdorj and his colleagues wisdom and strategies in defending against and defeating terrorist groups. Plead for the physical safety of the people of Mongolia, and for their spiritual awakening. Ask the Lord to draw them and enable them to come into relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for people from every tribe and tongue in Mongolia to put their faith in Christ as Savior and Lord.

DAY THIRTY-ONE
EAST TIMOR, SOUTHEAST ASIA
The nation of East Timor is one of only two nations in Southeast Asia considered “predominantly Christian.” In actuality, much of the population practices a syncretistic mixture of ethnic religions and Catholicism. “Many lack a strong biblical foundation,” Mission Network News reports, “which makes them susceptible to false doctrines and the acceptance of Islamic influence.” Pray for efforts currently underway to train leaders and strengthen ministry to children in East Timor. Ask the Lord to give the people of this nation a hunger for His Word and a thirst for His presence. Pray for a great and awesome move of His Holy Spirit in which Believers are renewed and refreshed in the Lord and the lost come into relationship with Jesus Christ. Cry out for the people of East Timor to be protected from the lies of the enemy brought to them by members of cults, and those who engage in false religions. Invite God’s Kingdom to come in East Timor.

THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICA
Gambian President Yahya Jammeh admits that his nation has become a hub for drug trafficking. In a speech in June 2010, Jammeh pledged to rid the Gambia of drug smugglers. “If you know you are a drug dealer,” he said, “the best thing for you is to leave this country or else I will deal with you very well.” Just weeks before this, Gambian authorities seized over two tons of cocaine. Pray for President Jammeh to keep his word – seeking out drug traffickers and prosecuting them swiftly and severely. Pray for the Gambia to no longer be considered an open and easy transit point for South American cartels. Ask the Lord to protect the people of the Gambia from illegal drugs and the corruption that surrounds their sale and use. Plead for the hearts of Gambians to be soft and open to the Gospel. Ask the Lord for a great harvest of souls in the Gambia.

GAZA STRIP, MIDDLE EAST
In June 2010, the Israeli government decided to ease its blockade of the Gaza Strip and begin allowing more food and construction materials into the area. The new policy will, for the moment, allow for “any sort of supply which is not arms and cannot be used to manufacture arms.” Praise the Lord for this development. Pray for desperately needed supplies to reach those who are struggling to survive in the Gaza Strip. Ask the Lord to move powerfully, using Christian organizations to meet the need for food, clean water, and shelter, and to offer the Gospel message. Pray for the special people in this special region to be reminded of God’s love in all of these actions. Petition the Lord to remove the veil from their eyes and reveal to them the indescribable gift: Jesus Christ.

WEST BANK, MIDDLE EAST
Tension continues to mount in the West Bank as Palestinians watch and wait for the hope of an independent homeland and Israeli security forces attempt to keep the peace. Clashes in recent weeks resulted in a number of arrests, including a Fatah intelligence officer. Four other men, members of terrorist group Hamas, may be deported from Jerusalem – a move that West Bank President Mahmoud Abbas says sets a “very dangerous precedent.” Pray for the Prince of Peace to maintain peace in this volatile region, restraining the many forces that are seeking to bring violence and destruction. Cry out for the Lord’s Kingdom to come, His will be done in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Pray for the salvation of President Abbas. Ask the Lord to provide wisdom to the leaders of the West Bank and Israel as they engage in talks. Pray for an awakening of hearts among Palestinians and Jews. Ask for a multitude of West Bank residents to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

WINDOW INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
Cry out to the Lord on behalf of Window International Network. Ask Him to protect the staff from any and all schemes of the enemy that would divide, destroy, discourage, or defeat their efforts to serve His purposes. Pray for unity and for the Holy Spirit to guide them in accomplishing all that is in His heart. Petition the Lord to give them vision and discernment. Pray for their time and efforts to be invested wisely and be fruitful for the Kingdom of God. Ask for the Lord to anoint them, strengthen them, and give them the grace to be His instruments in bringing the Gospel to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people of the 10/40 Window.

GREAT AND MARVELOUS WORKS:
WHAT GOD IS DOING (AND WANTS TO DO!) IN THE 10/40 WINDOW

Paging through the morning paper, watching CNN, and scanning the news online, you’d never know an unprecedented movement of God is underway in the earth. According to secular sources, it’s bad news as usual – oil spills, terrorist attacks, wars, poverty, crime, natural disasters…. Doom and gloom is the order of the day.

Look behind the headlines, however, and you will see a harvest of souls unequalled in the history of mankind. And the lion’s share is taking place in what was once known as “the resistance belt” – the 10/40 Window.

It was
a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit ignited by the prayers of God’s people. “This was made possible because of an avalanche of prayer,” Dr. Choudhrie explains. “Both praying through the Spirit and praying through the mind. Holy Spirit-guided, informed strategy resulted in a huge harvest that we could not think or imagine.”

What began with prayer is also being sustained by prayer. It has produced lasting fruit, Choudhrie says, because instead of “shotgun” evangelism aimed at anyone and everyone, this harvest of souls has been intentional and focused. “Every leader took ownership of his region and worked with a goal-oriented mentality of reaching the lost.”

The obvious question is: can God do the same thing in other nations of the 10/40 Window? The answer is a resounding: “Yes!” He is great and powerful, desiring that “all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (The Bible, I Timothy 2:4). As the prophet Isaiah reminded the people of Israel: “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear” (The Bible, Isaiah 59:1).

The Lord is already at work, bringing tremendous harvests in places commonly associated with spiritual darkness, oppression and barrenness. Throughout the Middle East and North Africa, for instance, Muslims are accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in numbers dwarfing all past centuries combined. In China, untold thousands are putting their faith in Christ each day and some estimate the number of Believers to be more than one hundred million.

The keys to seeing even greater harvests in “hard places” such as Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, and Afghanistan, Dr. Choudhrie says, are prayer and discipleship training. Prayer tills the ground, softens hearts, and removes the veil from the eyes of the lost and unreached. As the Holy Spirit draws them into relationship with Jesus, it is then critical to teach them to follow Him. That means communicating to them the urgency and responsibility of the Great Commission.

“Go and make disciples of all nations,” Choudhrie says, repeating the words of Jesus. “Equip and send them on to do the same.” It is a mistake, he emphasizes, to simply seek to save souls. We were not commanded to simply proselytize. We were told to make disciples.

“Post harvest operations are just as important as reaping the harvest,” Dr. Choudhrie explains.

It is also essential that all believers be involved in the task. “The need of the hour,” Choudhrie says, “is to get Christians unglued from the pews and sent out as harvesters into the marketplace, government, schools, hospitals, work places, police, banks, homes and neighborhoods and plant the Kingdom. “The harvest is ready and plenty and waiting… but the laborers are few.”

PRAY FOR:

• the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest field. (The Bible, Matthew 9:37,38)

• Christians to take seriously the role of prayer in global evangelism. Ask the Lord to stir His Church, mobilizing Believers to pray consistently, fervently, and strategically. (The Bible, Colossians 4:2,3)

• the Gospel to be proclaimed in the whole world as a testimony to all nations. (The Bible, Matthew 24:14)

• spiritual eyes and ears to be opened, blind minds to be made to see the Gospel of the glory of Christ. (The Bible, II Corinthians 4:4)

• disciple-making rather than just convert-making. Pray for the Lord to raise up leaders who will train Believers in the Word and release them to disciple others. (The Bible, Acts 2:42-47)

• Christians to take ownership of the Great Commission – praying, sending, giving, and going as the Lord leads, without hesitation or argument. Pray for members of the Body of Christ to die to self and live for the glory of their Lord. (The Bible, Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 16:24)

• the harvest of souls already taking place to grow, swell, and explode,
sweeping across nations and entire continents until the whole earth is filled with
the glory of the Lord. (The Bible, Psalm 57:11)

30 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE MUSLIM WORLD
August 11 – September 9, 2010

What’s special about those thirty days? They will be a time of prayer. But not just any prayer – the world’s largest ongoing international prayer focus aimed at Muslims.

God loves Muslims. Which is why it is our privilege and duty to lift them before His throne, interceding for their salvation.

From August 11 through September 9, as the Islamic world celebrates the fast of Ramadan, millions of Christians around the globe will be crying out on their behalf, asking the Lord to remove the veil of darkness from their eyes and draw them into relationship with Jesus Christ.

There are l.5 billion Muslims in the world today. And the number is rapidly growing.

How can we reach them with the Gospel? The first and most essential step is simple yet costly: prayer.

Join the international prayer meeting and petition the Lord for a great harvest of souls in the Muslim world.

KYRGYZSTAN: AN EXPLOSION OF VIOLENCE

Although it formally began when President Kurmanbek Bakiyev was forced from office in April 2010, the ethnic cleansing now taking place in Kyrgyzstan has
been simmering for many years.

This nation has experienced turmoil since independence from the Soviet Union. Its first leader, Askar Akayev was driven from power by protests ignited by issues of poverty and corruption. Elections were considered rigged and Akayev’s successor, President Bakiyev, “failed to restore full confidence in state institutions.”

Concern over Bakiyev’s repression of the media and attacks on human rights and civil liberties led to his ousting, but also allowed for long-standing tensions between Kyrgyz (approximately 70% of the population) and ethnic Uzbeks (approximately 15% of the population) to boil over.

Disputes over housing and the arrival of Uzbeks fleeing violence in Andijan, Uzbekistan in 2005 finally erupted into violence, leading to 2000 deaths thus far. Kyrgyz gangs have been assaulting ethnic Uzbeks, burning buildings, and brutally murdering the elderly, women, and children.

The United Nations estimates 300,000 people were displaced in June 2010 by what one news agency described as “an explosion of violence, slaughter and destruction.” The total number of those driven from their homes since the start of the conflict is now more than 400,000.

As of this writing, the violence has dissipated. How long the relative calm will last, no one knows. But it is clear that the humanitarian crisis could easily deepen, especially if aid does not reach those who have fled from their homes.

A Believer in Kyrgyzstan described the crisis as dire: “It is impossible to imagine the horror of the situation here! The news is only reporting a small portion of what is actually going on. It is ethnic cleansing.…” And security forces are reportedly doing little or nothing to stop the attacks.

Christians caught in this deadly conflict feel as though they have been imprisoned. “We are afraid that we will be forgotten and alone in this crisis,” one writes, “with no one coming to our aid. People have ‘tasted blood’ with no consequences and will not stop the killing.”

Another believer adds: “Our heart cry is that a [spiritual] harvest will come through this.”

PRAY FOR:

• an immediate end to this demonically-inspired violence. Pray for the Lord to defend Uzbeks and provide them with a safe place of refuge. (The Bible, Psalm
9:9)

• Christian humanitarian groups to find favor with the government and meet the escalating and desperate needs of those who have fled their homes. (The Bible,
Deuteronomy 10:18)

• the spirits of violence, slaughter, destruction, and genocide to be bound. Pray for the Lord to release His peace into this troubled nation, bringing forgiveness, healing and reconciliation between Uzbeks and Kyrgyz. (The Bible, Matthew 16:19; II Corinthians 5:18)

• Believers to be reminded of the Lord’s presence. Ask the Holy Spirit to comfort them, give them discernment, and empower them with boldness to bless the lost and share with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Philippians 2:1-3; Ephesians 6:19)

• the Lord to raise up leaders in Kyrgyzstan who will serve the people with integrity. Pray for corruption, greed, and manipulation to be swept from the government. Invite the Lord to work at all levels of society, bringing His Kingdom to this nation with power. (The Bible, Daniel 2:21; I Corinthians 4:20)

• this crisis to be used to bring a great harvest of souls. Pray for multitudes of Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, and every other people group in Kyrgyzstan to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (The Bible, I Timothy 2:4)

IMPRISONED BY LIES

A prisoner sits across from a minister of the Gospel in the visiting area of a high-security prison. Listening to the invitation to eternal life in Jesus Christ through the thick glass barrier, the prisoner shakes his head in refusal. The minister inquires as to what could possibly be holding this man back from accepting the free gift of God.

Does the prisoner believe in heaven and hell? Certainly. Is he convinced of his need for a Savior? Yes. However, the prisoner explains, following Jesus comes at too great a cost – he would have to give up too much.

Dumbfounded, the minister points out that the prisoner has been convicted and sentenced to death. He is confined, his days quite literally numbered. What is it that he will have to give up?

The prisoner considers this, finally answering, “My way of thinking.”

Perhaps this sad story is an illustration of the Church today. Not in terms of salvation, but responsibility. Though we say we believe Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again from the dead, we tend to balk at His command to “Go into all the world and make disciples” (The Bible, Matthew 28:18-20). It would require us to give up too much.

We have readily answered the call to be rescued from everlasting destruction apart from God (The Bible, II Thessalonians 1:9), yet we are not convinced the call to preach the Gospel to all creation is for us. In fact, we are often told this requires a “special” call.

Relieved of our missionary duties, we can breathe a sigh of relief and pursue our own ambitions and dreams – while still attending church, reading our Bibles, and praying.

Like the prisoner, we are not willing to accept the cost of following Jesus. We do not want to give up our way of thinking.

The world and the enemy have infiltrated our minds and hearts with insidious lies. “You can follow Jesus and have your own way,” their voices assure us. So we celebrate Jesus as Savior (Oh, how we need Him!), but refuse to bow to His Lordship. In the end, we are no better off than the man behind bars, held captive by false philosophies.

“There is a general obligation resting upon Christians,” wrote missionary Robert E. Speer (1867-1947), “to see that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached to the world. You and I need no special call to apply that general call of God to our lives. If men are to have special calls for anything, they ought to have special calls to go about their own business, to have a nice time all their lives, to choose the soft places, to make money, and to gratify their own ambitions.”

The question isn’t if we are called to reach the world with the Gospel, but rather, how? What is our role in accomplishing this task?

For you and me, and every other Believer who is not currently engaged in cross-cultural missions, that translates into giving our time, efforts, abilities, prayers, and finances toward reaching the unreached.

Since the vast majority of those still waiting to hear the Gospel reside in the 10/40 Window, giving to Window International Network (WIN) is a strategic, wise, and Biblical means of accepting the responsibility of our call. A donation to WIN not only helps mobilize evangelism and prayer in regions of the world where the task remains unfinished, but it enables us to be faithful in our service to the Lord.

“Let us lay aside all double-dealing, all moral subterfuge, all those shuffling evasions by which the devil is attempting to persuade us to escape from our duty,” Speer encouraged, “and let us get up like men and look at it and do it.”

Don’t allow yourself to remain a prisoner to worldly thinking. Give to WIN today.

“If you love me, keep My commandments.” -Jesus, The Bible, John 14:15

SYRIA: EXPECTING WAR

War in the Middle East is not a matter of if but when, according to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Although he claims his government is working to keep the peace, he also admits there is no chance of a peace agreement in the current climate.

“When you don’t have peace,” he says, explaining Syria’s current military activity, “you have to expect war every day, and this is very dangerous.”

Syria’s recent past can be characterized by one word: terror. In fact, the nearly thirty years in which Hafez al-Assad (Bashar al-Assad’s father) ruled the nation (1971-2000) are referred to as the “Years of Fear.” During that time, thousands of citizens reportedly disappeared, their murdered bodies deposited in secret mass graves.

When Hafez died in 2000 and was replaced by his son, Bashar, many hoped the oppression and intimidation would come to an end. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Although many political prisoners were released during the transition of power, the government maintained a tight rein on its people and continued to supply weapons and financing to militants and insurgents operating in the region.

International sanctions were leveled in 2004 in an effort to stop Syria’s “support for militant groups operating in Lebanon, Iraq and the Palestinian territories.” President al-Assad has repeatedly stated that his government does not arm members of the Hezbollah.

Western governments are now asking Syria to distance itself from Iran. The relationship between the two nations has been described as a “long-term strategic alliance.” Both countries are staunch enemies of Israel and both have invested heavily in terrorism.

Syria is also facing pressure to provide greater internet freedom and freedom of expression and of the press within its borders. Under Bashar al-Assad, those who challenge the government or its policies are often charged with “weakening national morale” and sentenced to prison. “Arrests of pro-democracy activists are common in Syria,” reports BBC News, “where several prominent political activists and writers remain imprisoned.”

Watchdog groups have listed Syria as one of the most repressive regimes in the world. It is also number 41 on the Open Doors World Watch List of the world’s worst persecutors of Christians in the world.

While all of the above is true and a genuine cause for concern (fuel for fervent prayer), there is good news. The Lord is moving in Syria – just as He is throughout the 10/40 Window.

One of the many exciting evidences of the work of the Holy Spirit in this Muslim nation took place in 2009, when a Christian movie about the life of the apostle Paul premiered in the capital city of Damascus. According to Joel Rosenberg, “More than 1,100 senior Syrian government officials, journalists, business leaders and religious leaders” were in attendance. “It is unheard of in the Middle East to have a major Christian film about the events of the New Testament debut in a Muslim-majority country run by the secular Ba’ath Party,” Rosenberg noted, “much less have the premiere supported and attended by senior government officials.”

Even as the enemy strives to steal, kill and destroy, blanketing Syria with fear and terror, the Lord is building His Church and Kingdom. Which force will triumph? As Jesus assures us: “…I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (The Bible, Matthew 16:18).

PRAY FOR:

• the spirits of fear, terror, oppression and control to be bound. Pray for the Holy Spirit to be poured out upon Syria, bringing peace, joy, prosperity, and love.

• President al-Assad to have a personal, life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. Pray for this modern-day Saul to be transformed into a Paul and used mightily to extend the Kingdom of God in Syria.

• corruption and lies in the government to be exposed and expelled. Ask the Lord to provide leaders in this nation who will serve with integrity and be peacemakers in the region.

• Believers who are experiencing persecution. Petition the Lord to give them boldness, strength, encouragement, and hope as they seek and serve Him.

• the Gospel to be preached throughout Syria. Pray for breakthroughs such as the “Damascus” film to be used to plant seeds and bring forth a great harvest of souls.

• the Lord to add to His Church in Syria daily. Pray for God’s Kingdom to advance with power, signs and wonders.

Give the Lord thanks and praise for the great and marvelous works He has performed, is performing, and will perform in Syria.

WindowKids™ July 2010 Edition

ONLINE:
www.windowkids.com

MYANMAR

Hymie: Hello, WindowKids! This month we are going to Myanmar. Also known as Burma, this nation is located just below India in Southeast Asia. Inside Myanmar we will find a mixture of culture and old traditions, but also tragedy. I’d like to introduce you to my friend, Sai Thet. Sai is going to tell us how we can pray for Myanmar.

Sai Thet: Greetings, WindowKids! Thank you for joining me in my country of Myanmar. Although the Burmese people have suffered in many ways, my family always looks to Jesus for hope and justice.

Let me tell you my family’s story and how we came to rely on the Lord Jesus Christ.

My father designs buildings in Rangoon, our capital city. He used to take my brother and me into the city to look at all the beautiful shapes and colors of the buildings. I was always surprised that my father had helped to create these buildings. My brother dreamed of following in my father’s footsteps. He wanted to design buildings just like the ones that my father made. However, something happened that threatened to keep that dream from becoming a reality.

A little more than ten years ago, when the government could not find enough soldiers, they began training children to fight in the army. These kids would be taken from their homes and were often not even allowed to see their parents or friends.

One day, when my father, brother, and I went into the city to eat kyazangi kaukswe (rice noodles with curry), a man in a military uniform came up to us. He demanded that my brother join the army. My father refused, but the soldier insisted and took my brother away.

My father and I didn’t know what to do. We were both scared. We wondered what they would do to my brother and if we would ever see him again. So we started to pray. We prayed right there in the street and all the way home. Then we prayed with the rest of my family and some of our neighbors who also follow Jesus.

That day, we decided that we would not stop praying and asking for God’s help until my brother came home safely. We also decided to pray for all the children who had been taken into the army, as well as their families.

This difficult time taught me an important lesson: God is faithful. Always. He cares about us. As Jesus said, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (The Bible, Matthew 10:29).

When I saw this verse in the Bible, I knew God was taking care of my brother. No matter where he was, Jesus loved and cared about him. I was sure I would see my brother again.

Then one day, after many weeks, as we were all gathered together praying, there was a knock at the door.

My mother went to answer it. Suddenly she began to shout. We rushed to see what had happened. And there was my brother! God had answered our prayers. He had brought my brother home!

Hymie: Remember, WindowKids: God always hears our prayers. He always knows when we are hurting, sad, and need His help and comfort. Jesus hears and answers your prayers, Friends. So when you pray, tell Him about the children of Myanmar – especially those forced to be soldiers. Ask Him to be with them, keep them safe, and show them His love.
