Join the Generosity Movement (Dec '13)
As the civil war rages in Syria, Islamist rebels besieged two Christian villages in Syria.
Violent extremists from al-Nusra, an al-Qaeda affiliate, carried out vicious attacks over Saddad and Haffar on October 21, 2013. Before this incident, these towns managed to remain in relative safety, providing refuge for thousands of displaced families.
Armed men stormed the city in sixty vehicles. They shouted "Allah Akbar" and they waved Qurans as they set up sniper posts. Saddad and Haffar are located between the central city of Homs and the capital Damascus. Many believe that militants were using it as a launching point for strikes against a nearby army base. In this ruthless attack, it is estimated that forty-five to seventy people were killed. Children were among those who perished. According to Barnabas Aid, "Homes, businesses, schools, and other public buildings, including the hospital, were looted and destroyed; fourteen church buildings were attacked and graffitied with insults against Christianity."
Christian Believers and workers acted quickly to help evacuate people to neighboring villages.
On October 28, government forces recaptured the villages of Saddad and Haffar from the militants. Once a semblance of normalcy returned to these cities, residents returned to their homes.
According to Barnabas fund, "Saddad and Haffar are the latest Christian villages to be targeted by Islamist rebels in Syria's civil war. The attacks follow raids on Saidnaya and the takeover of Maaloula" - - other Christian cities.
Every Christian Believer is encouraged to pray for faithful Believers who endure hardship for their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer is essential to fortify those who suffer danger and difficulty for the Gospel. This requires research and information from Christian Believers inside the 10/40 Window. This is the mission of WIN. WIN strives to inform Believers how to pray strategically, specifically, and Scripturally.
Pray for the removal of forces that threaten the safety of Christian Believers in Syria (The Bible, Psalm 82:4).
Pray for the Christian Church in Syria to continue to persevere even in the midst of acute danger and hardship (The Bible, Psalms 27:14).
Pray for God's peace to prevail in regions that are held by destructive powers of darkness (The Bible, Isaiah 9:6).
Pray for God's abundant blessings upon the financial partners of WIN (The Bible, Luke 6:38).
