Pray4Saudi: Father Gets Off The Hook In The Murder Of His Daughter

Fayhan al-Ghamdi is an Islamic preacher who made many appearances on Islamic television networks. He was in the news recently for the gruesome murder of his five year old daughter, Lamia.

On December 25, 2011, Lamia was admitted to a hospital with multiple injuries that included a broken skull, fractured ribs, and a splintered arm. According to women's rights activists, she also sustained severe bruising and burns. According to Randa al-Kaleeb, a social worker in the hospital, Lamia was raped.

In October of the following year, Lamia succumbed to the trauma of her injuries. Following her death, Fayhan al- Ghamdi was arrested. It is widely reported that the judge absolved Fayhan al-Ghamdi in the case after he paid 200,000 riyals (50,000 USD) as "blood money." This ignited a widespread campaign demanding stronger laws to criminalize violence committed against women and children.

Lamia's mother has vowed to continue the quest for justice in whatever way she can.

Pray for the women in Saudi Arabia, who are exposed to violent abuse and severe discrimination. Pray that they will find their worth in the love of Jesus Christ (The Bible, Psalm 18:2).

Pray for Lamia's mother and relatives. Pray the comfort that Christ alone brings will be their portion (The Bible, Revelation 21:4).

Pray for women and men on Saudi Arabia to hear and accept the Gospel of Christ. Pray for God's strength and wisdom for Christian Believers who share the Gospel in perilous circumstances (The Bible, Philippians 4:13).
