Pray4Saudi: Christian Believer Ministers to Fellow Prisoner
Excited about his newfound faith in Jesus Christ, the strapping young university student could not contain his joy. He felt this overwhelming urge to share his faith with his family and loved ones. Not for one moment did he pause to reason that he lived in a country known to be one of the worst persecutor of Christians in the world.
Running into a relative in the marketplace, Abdul* began to joyously relate the story of his conversion. Later that evening he returned home. At the door his worried father informed him that the police had been around inquiring about him. Even as they were talking, the police returned. They handcuffed him and led him away. At the police station he was told that complaints were lodged against him. Someone had overheard his conversation about his conversion. They promptly informed the police, who wasted no time in arresting the young man.
Sitting in the dark prison cell, he worried about his future. He could feel the eyes of his fellow prisoner bore a hole into the sides of his head. He shuffled around and darted a friendly smile in his direction and quickly turned away. He was afraid that this cellmate would do him harm.
After what felt like an eternity, the man spoke, "You are the one who was supposed to speak to me."
"I don't think so," replied Abdul.
The man was persistent and he pleaded with Abdul, "I saw you in a dream, and you are supposed to tell me something."
Abdul's sad countenance lighted up and he began to share with his cellmate the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After hearing about the love of Christ, the other man invited Jesus into his life.
In spite of the threat of imprisonment and even death, Christian Believers share their faith with those around them. Sometimes they are subject to harsh treatment from family and in some instances, like Abdul, they are thrown into prison. God continues to do His mighty work among the people of Saudi Arabia, revealing Himself to them through dreams and visions and sometimes through other Believers.
Pray for the people of Saudi Arabia. Pray that they come to know the love of Christ (The Bible, Psalm 65:2).
Pray for Believers like Abdul, who are imprisoned for their faith. Pray that God would bring about their speedy release from prison (The Bible, Psalm 91:9-10).
Pray for the government of Saudi Arabia. Pray that they would ease restrictions on Christians (The Bible, 1 Timothy 2:1-2).
