Lord, Teach us to Pray
In this month's teaching, I would like to address a simple principle: When God's Word is in me, Spirit-led words of prayer flow through me.
In order to have God's Word in us, we must become students of prayer. Here is a simple equation. Student of God's Word = Student of Prayer
Just as God's House is called a House of Prayer, the Bible is our Book of Prayer. God's record of prayer can be seen throughout the Bible. Great men and women of God pray, and learn some wonderful promises of God through persistent prayer.
What caused these great heroes of our faith to persist in prayer? They did not separate the Word of God from Prayer. God's Word shows us how to pray, inspires us to pray, and helps us persist in prayer.
Too often we pray from a place of memory or ritual. We pray verbose prayers. All the while, the Word of God is available to us with words from Heaven, awaiting our agreement. Praying God's Word allows us to come into full agreement with Heaven.
As David cried, "Get wisdom," I challenge you this month to "Get the Word of God to dwell in you richly." Once the Word is in you, it will come out of you!
