WIN Emergency Prayer Alert
Intercession is needed for one of the most brutally
repressive regimes in the world after troops in
Myanmar, also known as Burma, attacked ethnic rebel
villages in western and northern Karen State,
causing more than 11,000 people, including
Christians, to flee their homes in recent weeks.
In the biggest government offensive in years,
government forces earlier this month began raiding
villages in Ton Oo and Yong Lay Phin townships,
which are located near the Thailand border. Homes
and rice barns were burned and landmines planted to
stop people from returning to their villages. The
bodies of several victims have been found, some
severely mutilated.

OVER 11,000 DISPLACED: and civilians killed in latest army attacks on Karen
“The Burma Army gave orders that they would shoot on
sight any villager they found in their old villages
after the April 25 deadline to relocate,” the Free
Burma Rangers, a group that helps displaced people
in Myanmar, said, citing accounts from displaced
villagers. The Rangers, claimed that the situation
in the area is now “worse than at any time since the
offensives of 1997.”
The Thailand Burma Border Consortium, a
non-governmental organization that tracks refugees
from Myanmar, said 1,500 displaced people had
arrived in Thailand from northern Karen State since
December.
Myanmar’s internal conflicts have created more than
a million internally displaced people, who have been
forced to be constantly on the move through dense
jungle. Additionally, there are more than a million
refugees, mostly in camps in neighboring countries.

Prayer Points
Please pray for...
* A miracle of peace for Myanmar. Call on God, who
brought order to chaos and light to darkness, and
holds the hearts of kings in His hands, on behalf of
this nation (Isaiah 40:12-26 and Proverbs 22:1).
Pray that peace, not power, will be the heart desire
of all citizens, especially those in positions of
influence and authority. Pray also for peace to be
accompanied by wisdom, justice, grace and
reconciliation.
* God to protect and nurture Karenni and Karen
Believers, who are forced to live in constant fear
and with abject poverty and hardship, as they face
brutal offensives from Buddhist militias and the
army (Isaiah 40:11).
* Myanmar’s suffering Christians to firmly focus
on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). Pray that the Church of
Myanmar will consider the example of Jesus Christ,
who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that
you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews
12:3). Pray also for Jesus Christ to be their
strength, direction and hope.
* God to revisit Myanmar with another special
outpouring of his Holy Spirit. In 1828, Adoniram
Judson, America's first foreign missionary, led to
the Lord Ko Tha Byu, a Karen slave and hardened
criminal who became a mighty evangelist. Through his
ministry, the Holy Spirit moved in power and many
thousands of Myanmar citizens eventually sought and
received salvation. Pray that a “spirit of inquiry”
will once again flood the land, so deep it reaches
up into the high places of government and military
power.
* God’s Spirit to bring deep conviction of sin to
Myanmar. Pray that the killings and oppression will
end with repentance and restoration.
* Christians worldwide to intercede for the dire
situation in Myanmar.

WIN 10/40 Praise Report
Hundreds rallied worldwide for the Global Day of Prayer for Myanmar on March 12, 2006.
Christians in Myanmar held prayer gatherings despite
threats of imminent attacks by the nation’s army.
More than 170 people also gathered for a London
prayer event, which drew several different ethnic
groups who were represented through presentations,
prayer and song.
Praise God for:
The encouraging number of people who came to a
London event to hear and pray about Myanmar (Burma).
Pray that they would continue to be moved to pray
for the people of Myanmar as part of the Praying
Through The Window 8 (PTTW 8) initiative.
The prayer gatherings held by Christians in Myanmar
gatherings despite threats of imminent attacks by
the nation’s army. Praise God for their faith,
courage and joy in the midst of suffering and
continue to bring their needs before God as the
encounter dangerous situations on a consistent basis.
