In Rajasthan, the largest state in
western India with a population of 50 million people is
reportedly now bent on persecuting Christians. The
Hindu Nationalist Party, known as Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP), India’s largest political party with
nationalist, fundamentalist leanings, rules Rajasthan.

INDIA PERSECUTION ON THE RISE (Persecution Ranking: 26)
Earlier this month, the Rajasthan cabinet approved
an anti-conversion bill that seeks to treat forceful
religious conversion as an unbailable offense and
could entail a two- to five-year jail term for those
found guilty. The so-called Freedom of Religion Bill is
likely to be passed in the ongoing budget session of
the Rajasthan assembly.
Part of the reason for this sudden escalation is the
activities of Christians who recently distributed
inflammatory literature and insisted on conducting
large gatherings in a very sensitive area. At stake
are all the other ministries in Rajasthan. The enemies
of Christ are always looking for an excuse to destroy
the work of God.
The Rev. Dr. Samuel Thomas, president of the
Emmanuel Mission International (EMI), was arrested
on March 16 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh (near New
Delhi), in connection with the distribution of the
book, Haqeekat (The Truth or Reality), which
allegedly denigrates Hindu religion and deities.

Please pray for...
* Dr. Thomas’ safety and prompt release. Pray a
hedge of protection around him and his family.
* The Freedom of Religion Bill not to become law in
Rajasthan. This law specifically outlaws Hindus
converting to Christianity.
* Christians everywhere to rise as one body and
articulate strategy for rapid evangelization of the
state.
* Wisdom for Christian leaders to be knowledgeable
of the political, social and cultural environment as
they bring the most important gift of life to the
nation of India. Pray that God will give Christians
powerful and unprecedented strategies on how to
minister in a hostile environment.
* Pray that all of the wicked plans of Hindu
organizations will be revealed. Pray that their secret
plans will be shouted from the rooftops. Pray that
the media will expose their wicked plans.
* Christians in democratic countries to be faithful
to fax, call, and e-mail their elected representatives
to ask them to intervene on behalf of Christians
persecuted by Hindu extremists. Pray that the recent
visit by President George Bush and U.S. Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice to India will be used by God
to bring to the attention to Western government
leaders the West the severity of the persecution of
Christians in India.
* Radical Hindu organizations that are planning
these evil events to be identified as terrorist
organizations by the government of India and that
they will be outlawed. Organizations such as RSS and
the Bajrang Dal have been responsible for
persecuting and murdering Christians for many
years.
* House Churches in India to be protected and for
God to show Himself strong among Christians. Pray
that the House Churches multiply exponentially and
that Believers will mature and will be properly
discipled in the Word of God. Pray for increased and
sustained unity among the various members of the
Body of Christ in India, especially with traditional
Church leaders and House Church leaders (1
Corinthians 12:12).
* Revival to break out in India and that Christians in
India will be instrumental in taking the Gospel
message throughout the 10/40 Window.

Praise: AFGHAN MUSLIM CONVERT TO CHRISTIANITY: granted asylum in Italy

In a major answer to prayer, an Afghan man who
escaped a possible death sentence for becoming a
Christian has arrived in Italy where he has been
granted asylum. Abdul Rahman’s departure happened
as Afghanistan’s parliament demanded that the
government prevent him from leaving the country.
Rahman, 41, was freed during the early hours on
March 27 after being deemed mentally unfit to stand
trial on a charge of abandoning Islam 16 years ago.
He was liable for execution under Afghanistan’s
Islamic law statutes.
“Praise God for intervening on behalf of our brother,”
Beverly Pegues, president of WINDOW
INTERNATIONAL NETWORK, said. “We have to keep
the prayer pressure on. Make no mistake about it,
Rahman is still in danger. Under Islamic (Shariah) law,
he is an open target for any Muslim to kill him.”
“This is the time in the history of the Church to be
watchman on the wall for our Brothers and Sisters
who are being brutalized. Are we going to set back
and say ‘this is terrible’? Or are we going to pray and
blow the trumpet in Zion to bring international
attention and insist that democratic governments
intervene,” Pegues added.

Please pray for...
* Many praises to God for Rahman’s release and
miraculous relocation to echo around the world.
* Rahman’s continued safety and protection. Pray
for his two teen daughters. Pray for his family’s
salvation.
* The other converts arrested and another convert
who was beaten recently. Pray for justice and God’s
divine intervention regarding their persecution. Pray
that God would contend with those who viciously
contend with our Christian Brothers and Sisters.

* The seriously threatened Afghan Church. Thank
God that Christ is interceding for the Church of
Afghanistan. (Romans 8:34)
* Freedom of religion in Afghanistan. While we can
celebrate Rahman’s release, Afghanistan remains
unchanged in its lack of respect for human rights.
* A global awareness regarding the Persecuted
Church in the 10/40 Window. Pray for those who
have had to relocate because of death threats.
* Brother Rahman as he shares his testimony
through the secular media. Ask God to keep him from
seductive traps and that he will walk in righteousness
with his newfound freedom.
