Prayer Points July 2012DAY ONEINDIA, SOUTH ASIAExtreme poverty in India is predominantly rural, even though much attention centers around the slums of Mumbai and Kolkata. It’s the villages where most of the poor live. So many live far below any proposed income level, it’s no surprise the lower Castes often resort to debt slavery. Pray for the Lord to stand opposed to the Caste system of India, raising up leaders to bring liberty and justice. Ask the Lord to supernaturally provide for the poor, increasing their crops and livelihood hundredfold. Most importantly, pray that God would show Himself as the Provider to these precious people. (The Bible, Mark 4:8) MAURITANIA, NORTH AFRICAThe Mauritanian constitution states that all citizens are equal and have the same rights. But recently, Aslamo Ould Sidi al-Mustafa (presidential advisor) pronounced a new fatwa (a legal pronouncement in Islam): “Women can run for the presidency as long as they have no chance of winning. They can just do that for fun.” Mauritanian women expressed their outrage at a fatwa which bans women from becoming president. Pray that the women of Mauritania will grow in strength and dignity. Pray for them to lead their families into the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for them to give the mother’s heart to caring for the poor and needy. (The Bible, Proverbs 31) DAY TWONORTH SUDAN, NORTH AFRICAAlong the border between North Sudan and South Sudan lie cities caught in the middle of disputed oil-rich land. Some of Sudan’s most valuable oil fields are close to the border near Abyei. This could be a possible trigger for a new north-south civil war. In recent months the North has taken control of the town of Abyei. Pray that the people living in this region would find peace. Pray against the greed that is driving this north-south conflict. Pray that the church in this area would stand strong in their faith and be bold witnesses. (The Bible, Luke 12:15, Colossians 3:5) SOUTH SUDAN, NORTH AFRICAIn an effort to stem future violence, the South Sudan’s army and military are embarking on a tribal disarmament campaign in which more than 10,000 weapons have been collected. But the forces tasked with carrying out a disarmament campaign among feuding ethnic groups are raping, torturing, and killing members of the minority community, their leaders and aid workers say. Pray against the evils that allow r humans to treat others with such little respect. Pray for the church in the South to be strong and work to stop this evil. Pray for those who have been mistreated to find love in the Lord Jesus. (The Bible, Mark 12:30-31) AFGHANISTAN, SOUTH ASIAWith over 48,000 mosques and 95% of Afghanistan’s population being Muslim, according to Operation World, it’s one of the least-reached nations in the World. Pray for the Lord to establish churches through the faithful Christian Believers in Afghanistan. Ask the Lord to increase the presence of His Body throughout the cities, local villages, and marketplaces. Believe God for a fresh outpouring of the revelation of Jesus Christ being the One true God. (The Bible, Ephesians 1:17) DAY THREEKUWAIT, ARABIAN PENINSULAAfter noon prayers at the mosque, demonstrators called on the country's ruler to grant them citizenship. The government controls vast amounts of oil reserves. There are thousands of Arabs (desert nomads) living in Kuwait and other Gulf states that are without citizenship. They are known as “bidoon” or without. The government still does not want to give them citizenship and this is causing increased pressure and uprisings. Pray that the government would show favor to those without citizenship. Pray against any form of corruption that continues to allow the mistreatment of these people. Pray that God will grant the foreigners the justice they desire. Pray that those without citizenship would find citizenship in Christ. (The Bible, Deuteronomy 24:17-22) BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIASevere annual flooding hits Bangladesh around this time each year. The territory has the potential of losing many crops, which puts strain on one of the poorest and most overpopulated countries in the world. Ask the Lord to sustain these people in the midst of possible food shortage. Pray for the Lord to reveal Himself as the God who provides, as the country continues to feel the struggle of low resources. Ask God for new governmental infrastructure which can care better for the citizens. Believe our Lord for a large quantity of salvations. (The Bible, Genesis 22:14) DAY FOURJAPAN, EAST ASIAJapanese youth are formed in their upbringing as people to strive after worldly success. Many fall into this trap when entering the workplace, ultimately looking to themselves for their accomplishments. Ask the Lord to first begin in the Japanese family, instilling within parents the righteous value and perspectives of God’s Kingdom. Pray for the Lord to crucify the desire within these youth to seek personal fortune. Ask God to make Himself known to be the extreme value this world can offer. (The Bible, Genesis 15:1) GUINEA-BISSAU, WEST AFRICAThe number of Christian Believers has been increasing over the year, reaching now just over 10% of the population. Since independence, freedom for Christianity has increased, enabling a nation becoming more Christian by the day. Many local Pastors are faced with overseeing upwards of ten congregations. This nation needs more shepherds to match the increasing number of sheep. Pray to the Lord to send laborers into the harvest. Ask Him to raise up local leaders with the call to shepherd, giving them a spirit of obedience to the call. Pray for the Lord to equip the current pastors with new strategies to continue this movement of God and empower the people to become Church. (The Bible, Matthew 9:38) DAY FIVEBHUTAN, SOUTH ASIAOver the years, Bhutanese refugees worked in closed camps in Nepal and India. Many of the 100,000+ have returned home over the years with a sense of displacement. Pray that these refugees now living in freedom would experience the freedom of the Lord. Pray for the Spirit to awaken the Bhutanese to God’s home stirring them to return unto Him. Believe God for an increase of souls as a direct result of God’s Spirit descending on the hearts of many. (The Bible, Galatians 5:1) SAUDI ARABIA, ARABIAN PENINSULAInternational news again is focusing attention on how Saudi Arabia treats women. With the Olympic Games starting this summer in London, it looks like Saudi Arabia will be the only nation not to send female athletes. This kind of discrimination is against the International Olympic Committee charter. Pray that God would break through the hard line that the men of Saudi Arabia hold over women and, where women should have more freedom, they will find it. Pray that females and males in Saudi will understand the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for increase international pressure to free any women in Saudi that are in bondage. (The Bible, Genesis 1:27, Galatians 3:28) DAY SIXGUINEA, WEST AFRICAThree Bible schools and six leadership training centers for layman, yet there still is an overall lack of leaders in most areas according to studies done by Operation World. This unfortunately delays church growth and multiplication of disciples. Pray for wisdom and God strategies to settle upon the minds of leadership. Pray that God would shed light on new ways to make disciples and equip the body in Guinea. Ask the Lord for His church to shine before all men so that Jesus may be known among the lost. (The Bible, Psalm 97:11) THAILAND, SOUTHEAST ASIAAccording to a local missionary, one of the greatest struggles to the continued work of missionaries in Thailand is the seductive nature residing over Chang Mia. Many Christians have come with the intent to preach the pure Gospel of Jesus, only to leave with spoiled personal relationships with Him. “The pursuit of certain women in Chang Mai is to subtly seduce foreigners - which over the years has literally destroyed missionary marriages,” Pray for the Lord to send deep conviction upon the women in this culture being used to steal, kill, and destroy marriages. Ask the Lord to come against the seductive spirit that resides over this land. Pray for strength to come upon local missionaries to remain loyal to their spouses and God, fleeing sexual immorality. (The Bible, 1 Corinthians 6:18) DAY SEVENNIGER, WEST AFRICAIn spite of the overwhelming amount of Muslims (97%), there is a surprising openness to Christianity among the people. Pray that Niger will remain open for Christian missions. Ask the Lord to remove all social, religious, and spiritual barriers blocking the people from the knowledge of truth. Call upon the Lord for a great awakening in this dry and thirsty land. (The Bible, Hosea 13:5) KYRGYZSTAN, CENTRAL ASIAThe southern part of Kyrgyzstan is home to over 770,000 Tajik and Uzbek minorities. (Operation World) Many of these people groups still remain unreached with the Gospel. With a flow of Islamic rebels across the borders, few church plants have settled in this region. Pray for the Lord to open new territory for His church to become established. Ask the Lord to raise up the Christian Believers residing in the southern part of Kyrgyzstan with a burden for the lost Tajiks and Uzbeks. Agree together in prayer that all darkness will be cast out by the light of God’s glory in this area. (The Bible, Revelation 21:23) DAY EIGHTIRAN, MIDDLE EASTOne of the worlds worst persecutors of Christians, but, according to “Operation World,” Iran is home to the fastest growing evangelical Christian population in the world. Praise God! Thank Him that, in the face of severe persecution, Iranian Believers hold fast to the faith. Praise the Lord for increase in this land, and believe God for further expansion of His Kingdom in Iran. (The Bible, 1 Corinthians 3:7) BURKINA FASO, WEST AFRICASince Burkina Faso is landlocked, much of the country is underdeveloped. Poverty struggles surround the people, gripping them into generational cycles of physical and mental poverty. Pray that the Lord will release this land from Satan’s oppression. Ask the Lord to bind any work of depression and mental poverty upon the minds of these people. Believe God for His Spirit of adoption to reach this land. (The Bible, Romans 8:15) DAY NINEMALI, WEST AFRICAThe growth of Christianity has failed to keep up with the rapid yearly population increase. Many Malis make decisions for Christ, but return to their former religion due to the lack of discipleship. Pray that the Lord would raise up disciples with urgency to care for these young Believers in the Lord. Ask the Lord to seal His truth upon the hearts of those who make decisions for Him. Pray that those turning unto the Lord will remain steadfast in their faith, finishing the course to salvation. (The Bible, Acts 20:24) AZERBAIJAN, SOUTHWEST ASIAReported by Operation World, “The majority of Christian Believers are of foreign ethnicities.” Pray for Azeri leaders to mature in the faith, with a desire to reach their own people. Ask the Lord for unity within the Body and for good fellowship among Christians. Pray for the Church to remain strong in their witness to non-Christians. (The Bible, Proverbs 12:17) DAY TENBENIN, WEST AFRICAVoodoo originated from the people group Fon. Since this is so rooted in their traditions and customs, many who turn to the Lord continue to practice this form of witchcraft. Pray that the Lord would break the bondage that keeps these new Believers from forsaking voodoo. Ask the Lord to come with His Spirit, with signs and wonders, displaying the Glory that supersedes all other imitations of true power. Believe God for the binding of demonic influence and freedom that comes alone from Jesus Christ’s Glory. (The Bible, John 4:48) INDONESIA, SOUTHEAST ASIAThe Christian community celebrated the feast of Pentecost this past month under a blazing sun, not far from the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta, reports Asia News. “For the second time in a few weeks, the faithful have chosen the home of Yudhoyono as a symbolic place of protest to ask for justice’ on places of worship.” Last month, more than 200 Protestant Christians, long-time victims of persecution, also gathered in front of the Presidential Palace, seeking the application of laws on religious freedom. Pray for the Lord to use the people’s voice and demonstration of protest to instill a holy fear within the government. Ask the Lord for continued boldness and courage for Indonesian Christian Believers, as they seek to apprehend freedoms that are rightfully theirs. Believe God for a spiritual shift in government, opening doors for righteousness to reign. (The Bible, Acts 4:29) DAY ELEVENLAOS, SOUTHEAST ASIAThe suffering Church of Laos has been one factor to its continued growth. Just as it did in the Bible, persecution keeps the people praying, relying, and trusting upon the Lord. Pray for perseverance to overcome the Christian Believers, granting them endurance to fight the good fight. Pray for the grace of God to surround those forced to submit to all forms of persecution: social, mental, and physical. Ask the Lord for the continued growth and expansion of His kingdom until all this land has heard the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. (The Bible, 1 Timothy 6:12) WESTERN SAHARA, NORTH AFRICAThe territory of Western Sahara is claimed by Morocco as part of its own. But others, mainly the Polisario Front, living in Western Sahara are seeking the option of independence. The UN has tried to help bring a settlement for many years. It is in this kind of environment that a branch of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has more freedom to function. Pray against the rise of Al Qaeda in this part of the world. Pray for the people in Western Sahara to find peace in a situation that has little clarity. Pray for reconciliation of this government situation and for reconciliation of family issues. (The Bible, Matthew 5:23-24) DAY TWELVEEGYPT, NORTH AFRICAEgypt's Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohammed Mursi, won the first part of the elections with about 25% of the vote. Ahmed Shafiq, ex-President Mubarak's last PM, had roughly 24%. It seems like the vote is going in two different directions: one for a more Islamic state, the other against an Islamic state. To win the election someone needs to get 50% of the votes. The next round for this election is June 16 and 17. Pray for the people of Egypt to not allow evil and darkness to increase in their nation. Pray for the church in Egypt as they face increasing persecution. Pray for the freedom of the Gospel to move forward and for many people to come to the knowledge of Jesus. (The Bible, Ephesians 2:3; 4:17-19) UZBEKISTAN, CENTRAL ASIAThe name Uzbek literally means, “Master of himself.” With this being so deeply seeded in the culture, upbringing, and name, many find themselves doing all to preserve self. Ask the Lord to stand firm against this mindset, making Uzbeks dependent upon the Lord. Pray that God would rename these people with the Spirit of adoption, calling them “Heirs with Him.” Believe God for a great harvest of souls. (The Bible, Romans 8:17) DAY THIRTEENNEPAL, SOUTH ASIAAccording to Global Church News, “The Nepali government will guarantee the rights of the country's Christian community as well as their representation in the institutions of the state.” The point of agreement states, "The government will take initiatives to ensure the rights and development of the Christian community." Praise the Lord for this new law that allows Christianity rights. Ask the Lord for the Church to heed the moment, taking advantage of this golden opportunity to spread the Gospel through this land. Believe the Lord for a great harvest to follow this new liberty. (The Bible, Psalm 75:1) UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, ARABIAN PENINSULADriving around the United Arab Emirates reveals many building projects rising out of the ground, but people do not have the finances to finish them. So homes, apartment blocks, and office buildings remain half-finished, empty shells. The Associated Press reports that debts of local citizens may be wiped away by the generosity of the government to over $250,000. The write-offs are the latest government perks introduced in the wake of the Arab Spring uprisings. Pray for the people of the UAE that they will not allow money and things to get in the way of them knowing Jesus, the Savior of the world. In a society that is focused on material possessions, we need to pray that God will break through and show the true nature of people’s hearts. (The Bible, Psalm 10:3; Jeremiah 6:13) DAY FOURTEENALBANIA, SOUTHEAST EUROPEAccording to Operation World, “Despite widespread Islamization efforts from abroad spending millions of dollars, most Albanians resist religious entrenchment.” Many fall back to their upbringing of superstition and folk religions. Praise the Lord for the Spirit of discernment upon Albanians and their resistance to Islamic outreach efforts. Pray that the Lord will open their eyes and hearts to the truth that can really set them free. Ask the Lord for Albanians to discern the true Gospel, forsaking all else to find the Way.(The Bible, Proverbs 3:21) MOROCCO, NORTH AFRICAMorocco’s mass demonstrations during the Arab Spring did not lead to the overthrow of the regime. King Mohammed VI responded to citizens’ protests by instituting new constitutional reforms guaranteeing a number of social and economic rights. But little real change has taken place in the last year. This brings the military and police into new conflicts with the people of Morocco. Pray that righteousness and justice will rule in Morocco. Pray that the people would know the unfailing love of the Father. Pray for the people to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God. (The Bible, Psalm 33:5, Micah 6:8) DAY FIFTEENIRAQ, MIDDLE EASTIn the world of growing tensions between Shiite and Sunni Muslims, the government of Iraq is dealing with these issues. Iraqi leaders from nearly all of Iraq's top political blocs have called for a solution to a crisis pitting the Shiite-led government against Sunnis and Kurds. Pray that the government will have wisdom to come up with ways to peacefully deal with these issues. Pray that those in leadership would understand the purity to which God has called them. Pray that they would be gentle and yield to the other. Pray that they would be without partiality and without hypocrisy. (The Bible, James 3:17) SRI LANKA, SOUTH ASIASexual abuse, suicide, selective abortion, and child prostitution are just some of the evils surrounding the Sri Lankan culture. Pray that the Lord would place within the people the value for life and justice. Ask the Lord to set a hedge of protection around the thousands of young children forced into prostitution, which has led to thoughts and actions of suicide. Pray that God would raise up Christians with the burden to set people free by the good news of Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Psalm 34:7) DAY SIXTEENISRAEL, MIDDLE EASTWith thousands of Jews turning to their Lord, Israel begins to host the return of God’s people to their land. Journeying from Eastern Europe, Russia, and Ethiopia, we have only begun to see God’s hand drawing His people back. Continue to pray for peace and security within Israel. Pray that God would continue to stir the hearts of Jews all around the world to return home, along with their acceptance as Jesus as the Messiah. Ask the Lord to move Israelites to win their own people, as well as being the light for all peoples to see the Lord. (The Bible, Isaiah 60:3) TAJIKISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA94% of the population consider themselves Muslim, though very few practice pure Islam. Most are influenced more by superstitions and Zoroastrianism (formally one of the world’s largest religions). With their close proximity to Afghanistan and Iran, they are extremely vulnerable to Islamic pressure. Ask the Lord for extremism to be restrained, and that Muslims might have unprecedented opportunities to discover the love of Christ. Pray for the Gospel to spread and Christians to find ways to teach and minister. (The Bible, 2 Thessalonians 3:5) DAY SEVENTEENCHINA, EAST ASIAA Chinese Christian woman was recently kidnapped and raped by security personnel, hired reportedly by the local government, while traveling to Beijing to petition her rights. In 2004 she was unlawfully sentenced to three-years education in a labor camp for petitioning her rights and interests, enduring severe torture and persecutions. Illegal security guards were recently sent to take revenge on her yet again. The absence of rule of law in China allows such crimes to exist. Pray that the Lord would release justice within China’s government. Ask the Lord to protect the women of this culture as they resist governmental strongholds upon their God-given rights. (The Bible, Isaiah 56:1) DJIBOUTI, EAST AFRICAThe Afars, who make up 28% of the people residing in northern Djibouti, have experienced very little Christian witness. According to many records, there is no known church among them. Pray for the Lord to establish His church in this region. Ask God to raise up local leaders with a heart for discipleship and witnessing. Believe God for the salvation of these precious peoples. (The Bible, Matthew 16:18) DAY EIGHTEENYEMEN, ARABIAN PENINSULAThis last year has been extremely hard for Yemen. A year of protests against the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh has brought the economy to the brink of collapse. Increased lawlessness has helped boost Al Qaeda militants. The battle against militancy and poverty among the people is increasing. Some 40 percent of the Yemeni population live on less than $2 a day. Pray against the spread of Al Qaeda, especially in the south. Pray for the poor: may God be with them, care for them, and may they find the Lord Jesus. Pray for the poor to be satisfied with the food they need and in the Lord. (The Bible, Luke 6:20-21) VIETNAM, SOUTHEAST ASIAThe northern Vietnamese, due to the long-standing Communist presence, have remained the least evangelized. In spite of this reality, God is at work, sending missionaries and raising up local leaders for the acceleration of church growth. Praise the Lord for sending laborers into this ready harvest. Pray that God would stir the hearts of many more Christians to find their purpose and work in North Vietnam. Pray for the Churches presence to increase alongside the growing number of followers. (The Bible, Matthew 5:14) DAY NINETEENTAIWAN, EAST ASIAA recent election in Taiwan could mean greater opportunities to share the Christian faith in mainland China. Taiwan's incumbent president Ma Ying-Jeou is the winner of a second term in office. Reported by CBN News: "The door to gospel will be wide open," shared a local pastor. Praise the Lord for appointing His leader and representative over this land. Thank God that every decision is from the Lord. Believe God for the continued glorification and multiplication of His church in Taiwan. (The Bible, Proverbs 16:33) BAHRAIN, ARABIAN PENINSULAThe battle between Muslim Shiite and Muslim Sunni continues to increase. The governments of the Arabian Gulf States are seeking a “union” that will probably divide the two major branches of Islam even farther apart. These divisions continue to be strongly felt in Bahrain. Pray that this division will allow Muslims to understand Jesus more. Pray Bahrainis would enter into a saving knowledge of the risen Christ.(The Bible, Acts 4:10-12) DAY TWENTYBRUNEI, SOUTHEAST ASIAThe Church exists in Brunei, though under difficult conditions. Evangelism is illegal: no foreign Christian workers are permitted and importing Bibles and Christian literature is against the law. Pray for the Lord to open new doors and creative ways to spread the Gospel message throughout Brunei. Ask God to give heavenly strategies to local Christian leaders for new ways to witness for the Lord. Pray for Christian leadership, being schooled in the Word, anointed by the Spirit, and enabled to build up the local Body. (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 1:21) LEBANON, MIDDLE EASTThe conflict between Shiite and Sunni Muslims is affecting Lebanon. Lebanese protesters took to the streets in Beirut after Syrian rebels kidnapped 12 Lebanese Shiites in northern Syria. This is fueling fears that Lebanon is getting drawn into the chaos of the conflict in Syria. The leader of Hezbollah, Lebanon's powerful Shiite militant group, appealed for calm. Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said, "We will work day and night until these beloved people are with us.” Pray that the conflict going on in Syria would not flood the streets of Lebanon. Ask God to bring peace to the streets of Lebanon. Pray for a growing freedom of righteousness. Pray that the wicked and those that love violence would turn to Jesus and be saved. (The Bible, Psalm 11:5) DAY TWENTY-ONEQATAR, ARABIAN PENINSULA2022, it seems a long way away, but the planning and building for the FIFA World Cup brings the world’s attention to Qatar. Many workers from all over the world come to Qatar to make money and send it back home. Sometimes it seems like these workers are little more than slaves. But there are talks of creating labor unions to help. Pray that the human rights of all people in Qatar would be honored. Pray for the end of human trafficking. Pray for those that are suffering to know the Lord Jesus. (The Bible, Deuteronomy 10:17-19) TURKMENISTAN, CENTRAL ASIAIn the past, police officers reportedly told Christians that they would do everything to ensure that there are no Christians left in the country. Turkmen Christians are often discriminated against, harassed, and pressured to return to Islam, reports Christian Persecution International. Pray that the Lord would cause the plans of the enemy to fail. Pray that God would bring deep conviction upon the police force of Turkmenistan, drawing them to their knees in repentance. Ask God for strength and courage to surround Turkmen Christians. (The Bible, Romans 14:11) DAY TWENTY-TWOETHIOPIA, EAST AFRICAMuch of the country’s resources rest in the hands of a few. There continues to be a widening gap between the poor and the rich elite and increasing resentment, played out by crime and corruption. Pray that the Lord will bring wisdom into Ethiopian government, creating new ways to bridge the financial gap. Ask the Lord to overcome the crime and corruption with a Spirit of forgiveness. Pray that God would increase His provision into the hands of the poor. (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 8:3, 14) MYANMAR (BURMA), SOUTHEAST ASIAReported by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW): “In a year of war in Kachin State, in northern Burma bordering China, at least 70,000 civilians have been displaced from their villages, and have fled to temporary camps along the border. Serious human rights violations have been perpetrated by the Burma Army, including rape, torture, forced labour, the destruction of churches and homes, and killings.” Pray for a Spirit of peace to settle this war. Ask the Lord for protection over the people subject and vulnerable to attacks because of this war. Pray for deep conviction to fall upon the corrupted Army, bringing them to repentance and salvation. (The Bible, Philippians 4:7) DAY TWENTY-THREECHAD, CENTRAL AFRICAThere is a widespread deception surrounding Chad secret societies and sects. Groups such as Masons and other African quasi-Christians groups are seeking to lead Chadians astray. Pray that the Lord would give Christians a Spirit of discernment regarding the true teachings of Christ. Pray also for the solid teaching of Church leaders, dividing between truth and lies. Ask the Lord for liberation from all the bondages of secret societies, freeing them to serve the Lord under the Spirit’s leadings. (The Bible, Romans 8:21) ALGERIA, NORTH AFRICARecent elections in Algeria produce little political change. President Abdelaziz Bouteflika responded to Arab Spring protests in neighboring countries by launching a reform package and allowing new political parties. But none of them were able to make much of an impact. The National Liberation Party strengthened its presence in parliament. Pray that the political powers would rule the people with justice and mercy. Pray for the opening of the border with Morocco. Pray for His Kingdom to flow more freely in Algeria. (The Bible, Matthew 6:10) DAY TWENTY-FOURLIBYA, NORTH AFRICALibya's electoral commission said 4,000 candidates had registered for the June 19th national assembly elections. But the commission head said he could not confirm the vote would be held on that date as set by the ruling National Transitional Council. Pray that the Lord would grant to Libya His purposes to last through many generations. Pray that those that desire wickedness would be removed from office. Pray that the righteous will thrive in these elections. With the heightened awareness of Christian presence in Malaysia, Muslims are beginning to watch more closely. Pray for the Lord to send wisdom upon Malaysian Believers in their witness. Ask the Lord for greater boldness to rest upon the Malaysian Church. Pray that God would cover and protect Christians with His hand of comfort. (The Bible, Isaiah 40:1) DAY TWENTY-FIVEOMAN, ARABIAN PENINSULAAs Oman looks to increase its shipping terminal capacity in places like Muscat and Salalah, they are realizing their role in combating piracy in the region. Oman’s location just off key shipping lanes allows it to capitalize on this industry. But piracy is costing a whopping $7 billion a year. Pray against the increase of piracy that is affecting this whole region of the seas. Pray for international cooperation to make it harder for pirates to be successful. Pray for the Gospel of the Lord Jesus to expand across Oman, and for the planting of His Church in this land. (The Bible, 1 Corinthians 3:6-8) KAZAKHSTAN, CENTRAL ASIAReported by Persecution International: “The Government of Kazakhstan boasts of its religious tolerance, but makes it nearly impossible for churches to exist, much less meet together for worship.” Religious groups must follow strict protocol in order to gather and worship. One particular rule requires Churches to register their location and they are not allowed to meet anywhere but there, making small groups outside the church building illegal. Pray for the Lord to appoint new leaders willing to back up the nation’s freedom of religion. Ask the Lord for clever ways for local churches to gather and worship. Speak freedom over this land. (The Bible, Proverbs 28:2-4) DAY TWENTY-SIXTUNISIA, NORTH AFRICATunisia's struggle to rebound from the Arab Spring revolution is likely to become even tougher after Standard & Poor's cut the country's sovereign credit rating to junk. This action hampers the country's ability to borrow internationally to help turn around its struggling economy. Tunisia needs much wisdom and good men to lead the nation on new paths that will allow the country to become stable again. Pray for just and wise leaders who can help turn the economy of the country around. Pray for the people as their lives get harder because of the economic situation. Pray for self-control for individuals and the government as they face hard times. (The Bible, Proverbs 8:15; 25:28) CAMBODIA, SOUTHEAST ASIAProstitution in Cambodia is on the rise, according to the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women. Many of the girls, aged 15 to18 years of old, are found in the Svay Pak red-light district of Cambodia, though many girls are much younger. Smuggled in from Vietnam, these girls are bound by contracts lasting from six months to over a year. Pray for the safety and protection of these girls. Pray on behalf of these helpless youth, until the Spirit of the Lord sets them free. Ask the Lord for righteousness to reign and the Cambodia government to make a stand against human trafficking which plagues their society. (The Bible, Psalm 91) DAY TWENTY-SEVENTURKEY, SE EUROPE & SW ASIAChurch attendance dropped immediately after the Malatya incident, April 18, 2007, where three Christians were bound to their chairs, tortured, and stabbed repeatedly at a Bible print shop. Pray that even now the Lord would cause Christians to resurface in the Spirit of might. Pray for the Lord to stir these Believers with boldness as they take courage to share the Gospel of Jesus. Believe God for a great harvest of souls in this land. (The Bible, Ezra 10:4) NORTH KOREA, EAST ASIAFor many years very little attention has been paid to political prison camps and trafficking of North Korea women. A local Christian recently stated, “We have seen governments finally making human rights as equal a concern as the security issues…the momentum is now on our side for the first time in the history of this struggle.” Continue to pray that the Lord influences the North Korean government to uphold righteous standards. Pray that God would free all the women stuck in the trade of human trafficking. Ask the Lord for an abundance of souls to come to the living knowledge of Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Galatians 5:1) DAY TWENTY-EIGHTSOMALIA, EAST AFRICASomalia’s warring parties have all failed to protect Somali children from the fighting or serving in their armed forces, Human Rights Watch said in a report. The Islamist insurgent group al-Shabaab has increasingly targeted children for recruitment, forced marriage, rape, and human shields. Pray for the children to know the Lord Jesus, the One who desires all to come to Him. Pray that the children would not be put to these kinds of shames and be protected from these evil enemies. Pray for the military to stop this evil and see children as a great blessing. (The Bible, Genesis 33:5, Psalm 127:3-5) PAKISTAN, SOUTH ASIAWhile there is a significant degree of religious freedom pledged to minorities by law in Pakistan, non-Muslims must practice their faith carefully and under varying degrees of threat from Islamists. Christians in Pakistan can face severe opposition from militant Islamic groups, including imprisonment, torture, and even death. Ask God to continue growing His Church in Pakistan. Pray that Christians facing persecution for their faith in Pakistan will look to God for their strength. Ask the Lord for a mighty outpouring of His love and salvation in this land. (The Bible, 2 Timothy 2:12) DAY TWENTY-NINENIGERIA, WEST AFRICAChristians continue to be the target for attack by Islamic extremists. In three local government areas in Plateau state, armed Fulani herdsmen attacked 15 Christian villages, killing and maiming Christians, destroying homes, and leaving more than 1,000 villagers displaced, reports Compass Direct News. “Attacks have been happening… and this is always the mode of operation – gunshots and machete cuts,” said a relative of recent Christian martyrs. Pray that God would defend against the defenseless in Nigeria. Ask the Lord to spread the testimony of these victims’ hope, trust, and faith in Jesus Christ. Believe God for a peace to come upon these Nigerian Christian villages, with great courage and strength to endure all persecution. (The Bible, Acts 23:11) MALDIVES, SOUTH ASIAThe Maldivians are still among the least evangelized on earth. “Neither mission work nor Christian literature has ever been allowed,” reports Operation World. Pray for the Lord to release new laborers into this great harvest among the Maldives. Ask God to inform Christians of new ways to spread the Gospel through this land. Pray that God would penetrate the Maldives by visions and dreams, supernaturally revealing His Son Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Joel 2:28) JORDAN, MIDDLE EASTWith increasing refugees from Syria because of the civil war, Jordan is facing economic hardships. Energy bills are surging to record highs and increasing 54 percent. This affects all facets of life, but the poor are being hit the hardest. We know the Lord hears the pleas of the destitute. Pray that the impoverished of Jordan will call out to God Almighty through the Lord Jesus. Ask God to protect those that are the poorest of the poor; may He protect them from others that desire evil. Pray against corruption and greed. (The Bible, Psalm 12:5, 102:17) SENEGAL, WEST AFRICASince so few Muslims have come to Christ in Senegal, the nation enjoys a remarkable amount of religious freedom. “Despite a longstanding Christian presence and outreach, a spiritual heaviness covers the land” say Operation World. Pray for long-term stability for sustained Christian ministry. Ask the Lord to lift up the Christian presence in this land, drawing more Muslims to faith in Jesus Christ. Believe the Lord for increase of salvations among the lost Senegalese. (The Bible, Isaiah 51:5) DAY THIRTYERITREA, EAST AFRICAAccording to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres, Eritrean refugees are being kidnapped and sometimes killed by human traffickers. Ask God to send His protecting hand to be among the refugees. Pray that other countries might show mercy to these refugees. Ask for His righteous right hand in the face of human trafficking. (The Bible, Isaiah 41:10) TIBET, SOUTH ASIAAccording to Christian News Wire, “Anti-trafficking experts report an alarming increase in sex trafficking into the border town of Zhangmu, Tibet which is popular with tourists. Two non-profits recently opened the very first human-trafficking, border-monitoring station on the Tibet border. This station is designed to prevent the buying and selling of young Nepali girls into Tibet.” Praise God for new strategies that will prevent and protect thousands of girls from being trafficked. Ask the Lord to give these workers supernatural sensitively to catch an unlawful activity on the border. Pray for the Lord to create His own hedge of protection on the Tibetan border, hindering any trafficking. (The Bible, Psalm 107:1) SYRIA, MIDDLE EASTIt seems like every Friday (the Islamic weekly holy day) for the last year, protesters spill out into the streets after morning prayers. This is a challenge to the current regime forces. In response, they shell various opposition neighborhoods. But there are planned protests under way in various areas, including the capital Damascus and the provinces of Homs, Hama, Aleppo, and Deir Ezzor. Pray that the violence in Syria will end and there will be a reestablishment of order. Pray that those who are suffering, have lost relatives, and are caught in this conflict will find peace in Jesus. Pray for people and leaders who will be able to lead Syria into peace. (The Bible, Matthew 5:9) MONGOLIA, NORTH ASIAEven though Buddhism numerically dominates in Mongolia, shamanism, superstition, and the occult run much deeper. Ask the Lord for an increased measure of Christian presence in Mongolia. Pray that God would expose all the false religions in this land while opening the eyes to Gospel living. Pray that Mongolians might find complete liberation and have transformed lives through following the Lord Jesus Christ. (The Bible, Galatians 5:13) DAY THIRTY-ONEEAST TIMOR, SOUTHEAST ASIAEast Timor is one of the two Christian nations in Southeast Asia. At face value, seeing 90% Christian may come as an encouragement to us as Believers. But in all reality, Catholicism has become the widespread embrace of Christianity. Pray for Christians to renounce all forms of animism. Ask the Lord to bring the true revelation of Jesus Christ, as the remnant of God’s real church surfaces. Pray that God would send deep conviction upon those deceived by false religions, repenting and turning to the Gospel. (The Bible, Isaiah 42:7) THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICAAccording to Operation World, nominal Christianity makes up 9% of the Christian population. “In all cases, the nominal Christian population receives much more spiritual attention than the unreached Muslim majority.” Pray for the effective ministry of those loving and serving the Lord as they challenge lukewarm Christianity. Pray for these nominal Christians to hunger and desire a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, opening the door to His presence. Ask the Lord to raise up His bride in this land, revealing the true nature of His heart. (The Bible, Revelation 3:20) GAZA STRIP, MIDDLE EAST"Gaza is a big prison,” admits Nihad Abu Kishk, a former detainee from the West Bank who was exiled by Israel to the Gaza Strip. As we read about life in the Gaza Strip we understand that there are many pressures on the people. There are food and electric shortages and other issues related to the quality of life. Pray against the work of Satan, who comes to increase lies, to steal, kill, and destroy. Pray that the people would not feel that Gaza is a prison, but a place of great life. Pray that Jesus, who came to save, restore, and renew life would be made known in Gaza. (The Bible, John 3:16-17; 8:44; 10:10) WEST BANK, MIDDLE EASTThe West Bank continues to be a place of rock throwing, conflict, and unrest. Hamas is becoming more active in the West Bank. Pray for a growing peace to be in the West Bank. Pray that all evil plans of Hamas to be exposed. Ask the Lord to give leaders in the West Bank wisdom in dealing with this rising unrest. Pray for the salvation of government officials in the West Bank. Pray for the Gospel to be preached and for a great harvest of souls.
