Transforming The 10/40 Window Nations Through The Power of Prayer

What started out as a pilgrimage to a monastery in Minya in western Egypt ended as a slaughter of 28 innocent men, women, and children. A bus carrying the Coptic Christians was flagged down in the desert. Men in army fatigues ordered everyone off the bus and took their cell phones. Men were asked to repeat the shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith. When they refused, the massacre began. Some were shot execution style. Only the approach of vehicles stopped the murder of those who escaped. This atrocity is only the latest for the besieged Christian minority that has seen suicide bombers dispatched into crowded Sunday services in three cities.
In response, the Egyptian military carried out strikes on six militant camps in eastern Libya. President Abdel Fattah el Sisi warned attacks on Christians "will not go unanswered. Egypt will never hesitate to launch strikes against terrorist camps anywhere." Victims and survivors were rushed to Minya, a governate where one-third of the population is Christian. Hospitals were overwhelmed with the carnage and families looking for loved ones. The attack signaled the widening geographic reach of extremist militants in Egypt. It also widens the persecution of Christians around the world!

The nation of Egypt is number 21 on the 2017 Open Doors World Watch List of the worst persecutors of Christians in the world. Window International Network partners pray for Egypt on Day 12 by following the Praying Through the Window 9: Global Terrorism and World Religions prayer calendar.

Please pray for:
  • The perpetrators, who have been brainwashed to believe that their terrorism against "infidels" is their holy duty, to experience an encounter with Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, (The Bible, Acts 9:1-6, Romans 12:2).
  • Coptic Christians in Egypt to put on the whole armor of God and not be overcome by cowardly attacks upon them (The Bible, Ephesians 6:10-18).
  • God to send warring angels to defeat demonic forces that are filling terrorists with hatred, lies, and violence. Pray that the Lord will set ambushes against these terrorists and defeat them. (The Bible, 2 Chronicles 20:22 ).
  • Declare that the Lord will send the angel of the Lord out to defeat the terrorists like He sent the angel of the Lord to slay 185,000 Assyrians (The Bible, Isaiah 37:36).
  • God, arise and let Your enemies and the enemies of Your children be scattered (The Bible, Psalm 68:1).
