Nigerian Girl Defies Boko Haram -
Refuses to Renounce Her Faith

Once again Boko Haram horrifies the world! They invaded a village and kidnaped 110 girls from a school in Dapchi, Yobe State in Nigeria. One month later, 21 March, they returned 104 of the girls to their village because they were Muslim. Five of the younger girls were trampled inside the vehicles and were buried in the bush. What happened to the other girl? Her name is Leah Sharibu, and she defied Boko Haram by refusing to renounce her Christian faith! Leah is still in captivity. Leah's father, Nathan Sharibu said, "They gave her the option of converting in order to be released, but she said she will never become a Muslim. I am very sad... but I'm also jubilating too because my daughter did not denounce Christ."

Leah sent a message asking her family "to pray for the will of God to be done in her life." What bravery, what faith, what a testimony to the world! One lone Christian girl among 110 defies the wicked abominable Boko Haram whose very name means, "Western education is forbidden." According to reports, when the terrorist returned the 104 kidnapped girls, they warned the townsfolk not to enroll their daughters in schools again. What will happen to Leah? Efforts to secure her freedom have even reached President Buhari, asking him to "uphold the tenets and principles of the Nigerian constitution." Christians must pray!

The nation of Nigeria is number 14 on the 2018 Open Doors World Watch List of the worst persecutors of Christians in the world. Window International Network partners pray for Nigeria on Day 29 by following the Praying Through the Window 9: Global Terrorism and World Religions prayer calendar.

Let us pray for:

The Almighty Lord to "lash [Boko Haram] with His whip" until they are utterly dismayed by His power. Pray that in fear and awe they will beseech God to take Leah away from their midst The Bible, Isaiah 10:26).

Boko Haram to cry out as the Philistines did when they stole the Ark of God: "Who can stand in the presence of the Lord, this Holy God?" May they so fear the Holy God that they will be anxious and fearful until they release Leah safe and sound (The Bible, I Samuel 6:20).

Leah to feel the comfort and protection of Almighty God as she stand up for Him in the midst of this "lion's den." May she be released totally unharmed (The Bible, Daniel 6:19-23).
