Abducted Nigerian School Girl Appeals to President for Release

Abducted Nigerian School Girl Appeals to President for Release

In February Boko Haram again abducted 110 schoolgirls in Nigeria. After negotiations, 109 of the girls were released in March -- all Muslims. The one girl not released, Leah Sharibu, is a Christian. The terrorists demanded that the condition for her release was to convert to Islam. Leah refused. Her boldness and her faith in the defiance of these vicious terrorists has thrust her into the world spotlight. Leah, in a recorded message, appealed to Nigeria's President Buhari: "I am calling on the government and particularly the president to have pity on me and get me out of this serious situation. Thank you."

CSW, a Christian relief organization, is advocating for Leah's release. Their vision is "a world free from religious persecution, where everyone can practice a religion or belief of their choice." Leah is only 15 years old. CSW's Chief Executive Marvyn Thomas said, "Hearing this remarkable young girl speaking in a mature and steady manner after being held captive for 7 months by one of the most brutal terrorist organizations in the world is testament to the strength of her faith and character." Leah's main concern in her 35-second message was for the public to have compassion and assist her parents, younger brother and relatives.

The nation of Nigeria is number 14 on the 2018 Open Doors World Watch List of the worst persecutors of Christians in the world. Window International Network partners pray for Nigeria on Day 29 by following the Praying Through the Window 9: Global Terrorism and World Religions prayer calendar.

Let us pray for:

A concentration of prayers for Leah's release during 5-10 September, when CSW will be concentrating their efforts with the government (The Bible, Luke 4:18, CSW Leah).

Leah to be strengthened by God's ministering angels as she stands firm in her faith before her accusers (The Bible, Hebrews 1:14, Psalm 34:7).

For the world community to put tremendous pressure on President Buhari to return Leah and to demolish Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen who are raining havoc and terrorism in Nigeria. Enough is enough!!! (The Bible, Proverbs 21:15).

For the Church to arise in her spiritual authority and demolish the demonic strongholds operating in and empowering Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen to engage in such horrific acts of wickedness. Release God's Isaiah 10:26 whip against those who are spearheading this evil! (The Bible, Isaiah 10:26).

The terrorists holding Leah to have dreams and visions about the truth that Jesus Christ is offering them forgiveness and salvation if they will only accept it (The Bible, Acts 2:17).

Just like with Sarah, Abraham's wife, God will invade Boko Haram's and the herdsmen's dreams with a firm warning not to lay a hand on Leah or He will wipe them off the face of the earth! Oh, God, arise and let your enemies be scattered and brought to nothing! (The Bible, Genesis 20:3).
